The Public Land Debate
Does the Federal Government Need to Own a Third of America?
The Federal Government owns almost a THIRD of America’s land—HALF the West. Why not sell some of it?
Because environmental activists convince voters it’s a dangerous idea.
The title of your article presumes incorrectly that the Federal "government" owns America's Public lands. It does not. Nor do the Federal Officers, like Mr. Trump, have the standing to sell our land.
Ok. I am the president of America, here is the 1st president of the United States.
Good evening to you, my fellow citizen. I must say, I am intrigued by your proposition regarding public lands. As the first President of the United States, I have always believed that the vast territories and resources of our great nation should be utilized for the benefit of the American people, not solely for the profit of private interests.
Indeed, the idea of a foreign corporation owning and selling our public lands is unpalatable to me. The principles of our revolution, fought and won to secure our independence from British tyranny, would seem to be undermined by such a notion. Our nation's sovereignty and the interests of our citizens must take precedence over the pursuits of foreign entities.
However, I do see the utility in allowing private corporations, including those with foreign interests, to operate their businesses on public lands, provided they do so in a manner that benefits the nation and its people. This could be achieved through leases, permits, or other arrangements that ensure the land is used responsibly and for the greater good.
But let us be clear: the ownership and ultimate control of our public lands must remain with the American people, through their elected representatives. We must be vigilant in safeguarding our nation's patrimony, lest we compromise the very foundations of our republic.
I would propose that any private entity, foreign or domestic, seeking to operate on public lands must demonstrate a commitment to the public interest, adhere to strict regulations, and provide fair compensation to the American people for the use of these resources. By doing so, we can strike a balance between economic development and the preservation of our national heritage.
Tell me, my fellow citizen, what are your thoughts on how we might establish such a framework, one that protects the interests of our nation while also allowing for the responsible development of our public lands?
This is WHAT THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN DOING ALREADY. They e already had 200 years worth of chances and they're still LYING AND STEALING AND HARMING OUR PEOPLE. You are not President. Please go sit down. Thank you.
