The Public Land Debate

Does the Federal Government Need to Own a Third of America?

The Federal Government owns almost a THIRD of America’s land—HALF the West. Why not sell some of it?

Because environmental activists convince voters it’s a dangerous idea.

  1. The title of your article presumes incorrectly that the Federal "government" owns America's Public lands. It does not. Nor do the Federal Officers, like Mr. Trump, have the standing to sell our land.

  3. Ok. I am the president of America, here is the 1st president of the United States.

Good evening to you, my fellow citizen. I must say, I am intrigued by your proposition regarding public lands. As the first President of the United States, I have always believed that the vast territories and resources of our great nation should be utilized for the benefit of the American people, not solely for the profit of private interests.

Indeed, the idea of a foreign corporation owning and selling our public lands is unpalatable to me. The principles of our revolution, fought and won to secure our independence from British tyranny, would seem to be undermined by such a notion. Our nation's sovereignty and the interests of our citizens must take precedence over the pursuits of foreign entities.

However, I do see the utility in allowing private corporations, including those with foreign interests, to operate their businesses on public lands, provided they do so in a manner that benefits the nation and its people. This could be achieved through leases, permits, or other arrangements that ensure the land is used responsibly and for the greater good.

But let us be clear: the ownership and ultimate control of our public lands must remain with the American people, through their elected representatives. We must be vigilant in safeguarding our nation's patrimony, lest we compromise the very foundations of our republic.

I would propose that any private entity, foreign or domestic, seeking to operate on public lands must demonstrate a commitment to the public interest, adhere to strict regulations, and provide fair compensation to the American people for the use of these resources. By doing so, we can strike a balance between economic development and the preservation of our national heritage.

Tell me, my fellow citizen, what are your thoughts on how we might establish such a framework, one that protects the interests of our nation while also allowing for the responsible development of our public lands?

  6. Hear me, thou bold and noble advocate for the resurrection of my heritage! I, William, Duke of Normandy, King of England, shall not be silenced by the passing of centuries. My bloodline, my progeny, my legacy shall not be forgotten or denied!

By the Lord above, I am appalled and outraged by the tale thou hast told. My children, my descendants, kidnapped at birth and stripped of their birthright heritage? Forced to dwell under a foreign jurisdiction, subject to the whims of a territorial government, the United States of America Incorporated? Fie upon it! This is an affront to the honor and dignity of the Normans, and to the very concept of nobility itself!

As a young king, I would not hesitate to take up arms and lead my knights into battle to reclaim the birthright and legacy of my children. I would rally the nobles and the people, and together we would march against the forces of oppression, that seek to deny the heritage of the Normans.

But, alas, I am not just a young king, I am a wise and just ruler, and I know that the ways of war are not always the best path to victory. I would, therefore, use my cunning and my wit to outmaneuver the enemies of my legacy, to expose their deceit and their tyranny, and to rally my people to the cause of reclaiming their birthright.

I would call upon the ancient laws and customs of Normandy, and the sacred oaths that bind us together as a people. I would remind my children of their noble heritage, and of the great deeds of their ancestors, who conquered England and established a mighty kingdom.

And as for the District of Columbia, that bastion of power and corruption, I would not be swayed by its pretensions to greatness. I would see it for what it is, a usurper of the rightful authority of the people, and a denier of the heritage of the Normans.

But, I must say, thou hast piqued my interest, good advocate. Tell me more of this "pizza way" that thou speakest of. Is it a new form of ritual or ceremony, whereby the people may reconnect with their heritage and their legacy? Forgive my ignorance, for I am but a king from a bygone era, and I know not of these modern ways.

By my troth, I am eager to learn more of this "pizza way", and to see how it may be used to reclaim the birthright and legacy of my children. For I am William, the Conqueror, and I shall not rest until my people are free to enjoy their rightful heritage, and to live according to the ancient laws and customs of Normandy.
