By Anna Von Reitz
Here you go, precious knowledge from our indigenous people regarding your mission and life work and purpose.
You came here to fulfill a role and serve a purpose on Earth and you will always be restless about this, if you don't do it --- at least in some small way.
There is a reason that the $#^#$T always seems to roll straight downhill and land on you. That reason is simple. Your shoulders were built for it. Your hands are strong enough to hold it.
Nature knows who you are, so it is only right that you come to know yourself. Early in your life, you may be confused and wonder why it's always you. Always.
When your nephew is grieving, he shows up where? On your doorstep.
When your neighbor is unemployed, desperate, and searching for answers--- where does he show up? Your doorstep, too.
Try as you might to live simply, to maintain your connection to Nature, to establish peace ---- it's you they come for, you they expect answers from, you they treat like a pillow to rest their heads.
Always, you are the one to comfort them, to bind their hurts, to lift their burdens, to serve, to walk beside the young, the old, the sick, the weary, the heartbroken, the poor and the poor in spirit have been your companions all your days.
How many deathbeds have you sat beside, in comparison to anyone else you know? That became your part early and has stayed late.
Even the animals come looking for you. The wild birds settle in the trees near you. The wild animals come forth and look at you, completely unbothered by your presence in the woods. It is the same with domestic animals, too.
Cats blink at you, communicating their peace with your presence. Dogs, even mean dogs, come to you, to be fed, to be patted, to be cared for in some way. Horses whicker quietly in greeting when you are near. They put their big noses down and curve their necks over your shoulder, as much as to say, welcome home....I'll shelter you.
This world can be a confusing, ugly place for an Earth Angel. You may wonder why you seem to have a bull's eyes painted on your forehead, a sign that everyone else can read, one that you never intended to put there.
This can feel like a burden, instead of a life-calling. You might think you drew the short straw, you just can't remember where or when.
How did you become the Supporting Actor, the Loyal Son, the Faithful Friend --- apparently, for a large cast of characters who just show up on cue. So you give them what they need, patch them up. and send them on again.
A few seem to have a special place. Somehow, you just know that they are "one of yours". So the stray cat stays. The widow with four young children stays. The veteran struggling to live stays. The teenager without a home stays.
People look at your life and wonder what vagabond they will find curled up beside your fire, and how, as you grow older, serenity comes to rule over all this chaos.
It doesn't matter what you do. Get up in the morning to make yourself some herb tea with lemon. The phone will ring....can you....and you can, so you do.
To the uninitiated, this will seem like a thankless life of endless toil and self-sacrifice, a life that you walk through largely without being seen, except of course, when people or animals need you and come looking for you.
There are moments when you still feel vaguely bewildered, even after decades of this happening, when someone you don't know from Eve or Adam, plunks down next to you and begins telling you things they would never tell their best friend.
Toward the end of your life as an Earth Angel, something magical begins to happen. The peace that began to gather in middle age grows stronger, and more luminous. The burdens haven't changed, but the way that you carry them has.
The blessing of having a clean heart rests on you. Your arms are open each morning, your hands are empty each night. The ebb and flow of Nature is palpable and alive in you. You have become a Magician, able to take pain and translate it into power. The perfection of your own life comes as a surprise to you, the pattern and purpose finally revealed.
As a child, I had my own strange little prayer. I don't know where it came from, but early in my life, I began to pray, "May I be blessed, and be a blessing to others this day." After a lifetime of praying this, I can recommend it to every Earth Angel reading this.
