The Use of Slaves

Here's an example of "blood money" on steroids --- a loan (one of many) that uses The United States of America's lawful gold and silver to create credit in the form of notes (Federal Reserve, Treasury Notes, USNotes, etc.) and palms the credit off to a "federally approved supplier" of this credit (which is owed to us) to the banks (instead of us).

They use our gold and silver as collateral to borrow against. Instead of allowing us to access our own resulting credit, however, they pass the credit on to Third Parties, in this case, Pacific Corp, which acts as if this credit belongs to them, and next distributes the purloined credit of the American people out to the banks. Upon acceptance of our credit, the banks are indebted and they issue debt notes --- Federal Reserve Notes, USNotes, Treasury Notes, whatever kind of "notes" and bonds of various kinds--- for a leveraged share of the benefit from the theft and misuse of our credit.

The middleman position which in this case is held by Pacific Corp, varies depending on which partners in crime are involved. They run in pairs.

When the U.S. Treasury (IMF) issues Treasury Notes and Bonds, they are engaged in exactly the same kind of credit theft scheme with the U.S. Treasury (IMF) acting as the middleman instead of Pacific Corp. Federal Reserve Banks accept the "loan" of our credit at interest (Treasury Notes and Treasury bonds) and in turn, issue Federal Reserve Notes --- passing the debt off onto the public. Us. The actual Creditors.

And we become liable for their debts if we "voluntarily" accept their notes, but most people are kept so ignorant that they don't even know what notes are (I.O.U.s) much less the fact that they have to notify the U.S. Attorney General that they are not "voluntary Commercial Transactors" and have to endorse their checks in a certain way to rebut these self-interested presumptions.

Pacific Corp is no doubt backing a different brand of "note" --- probably US Notes --- or the Rainbow Currency Notes --- but it's the same scheme. Everyone is siphoning off our assets in exactly the same way, slush funding and manipulating our credit, cheating us and unjustly enriching themselves using the exact same fraud scheme.

Oh, what a tangled web.... and this is what underpins the world's entire economy.

If you are really paying attention, the banks and middleman Corporations are the actual Debtors. They owe all that credit to us. Plus interest. And it is exactly this inconvenient fact that they are trying to ignore and escape.

All that lovely credit belongs to us, and so does all that lovely debt of theirs. It all belongs to us.

Unfortunately, too many Americans have been trusting and clueless ---- two things that make them very tempting "marks" for any illicit and evil scheme to claim and make use of them and their assets.

Like the present attempt to redefine us as Genetically Modified Organisms that are called "Transhumans" and which have no rights --- not even the right to live, let alone the right to own money and credit.

Just another chestnut from the scumbags.

But hear this, the truth is the truth. The lies and the deceits are all coming home to roost.

JPMORGAN, we won't be fooled when you call yourselves the FEDERAL RESERVE BOARD OF GOVERNORS.

IMF, we won't be confused when you call yourselves the United States Treasury.

U.S. ATTORNEY GENERAL, we won't blink when you call yourselves Wells Fargo Bank.

These and other complicit corporations have gotten away with this gigantic swindle by pretending to represent us. They claim to be our Agents, our Trustees, our Administrators. Never mind that these purported arrangements and assignments have never been disclosed to us, much less approved by us.

Brought to bear, they say that they never harmed us by stealing the benefit of our credit and leaving us to pay their debts. All these misfortunes befell their indentured servants and slaves, instead, the imaginary British Territorial Persons and Municipal PERSONS named after us.....

And over half of us stagger on as if hypnotized. Burdened down by this fantastic load of crap and not even cognizant enough to object.

Set Yourselves Free of Bureaucracy -- Coordinators Pay Attention!

I have spent (read that: wasted) fully half of my morning correcting Coordinators and other Assembly members who are continuing to insist that everyone do all of the 928 paperwork and record it before being admitted as an Assembly Member.

I have had people tell me that they are being asked to get divorced, give up driver licenses, give up professional licenses, revoke election to pay income taxes, and all sorts of other extraneous actions that either don't apply or don't have to be done at all --- as a "condition" to join an Assembly and participate.

I have had people tell me horror stories about recording all the 928 documents in good faith, and then being told that they have to re-record everything because they used the wrong color of ink or sent out their notices using Certified Mail or made some other petty mistake.

This is all nonsense.

First, the purpose of a public recording of your political status is to establish your choice of political status. It is your intention that is controlling, not the perfection of any paperwork.

Second, for well over a year, the only paperwork necessary to join an Assembly consists of four (4) pages: (1) 1779 Declaration; (2) a black and white copy of a birth certificate or naturalization paperwork; (3) two competent Witness Statements affirming that you are the man/woman who was born at the time and place indicated on the birth certificate.

Third, these four simple pages get recorded by one of three acceptable methods: (1) State of State Recorder's Office; (2) Assembly Land Recording Office; (3) (LRS) International Land Recording Service.

The full suite of 928 paperwork is NOT REQUIRED and it makes no great difference which method you use to make the public recording---- State of State Recorder's Office, LRO or LRS.

The Article 928 paperwork is available on my website (www.annavonreitz.com) for everyone to look over and see if there are any other parts and pieces that apply to their situation. For example, if you have children, you probably will want to complete a Baby Record, and claim their correct political status for them. If you were in the military, you will want to send a simple severance letter via Registered Mail Return Receipt Requested (which is private), simply letting your branch commander know that you have returned home to your birthright political status.

You are not required to give anything up when you reclaim your birthright political status.

You don't have to get divorced. You don't have to revoke your election to pay income taxes (and shouldn't if you are a Federal worker and owe them!). You don't have to cash out of the Social Security system and you won't lose any Social Security or Military pension payments or services by adopting your natural political status.

Instead, you will regain your constitutional guarantees and your right to own your land outright in Fee Simple Absolute status. And, if you study and learn how, you will gain control of the foreign PERSONS that have been created in your name, so that these legal fictions can no longer be used to impersonate you, tax you, or otherwise cause you harm.

One of the glories of our American Way is that our government is simple and inexpensive and keeps bureaucracy to a bare minimum. Why? Because we are self-governing. All the bureaucratic red-tape costs us time and money, whereas it represents "make work" for our subcontractors and employees.

We have ample motives to keep paper pushing to a bare minimum, while our employees have the opposite motive --- to increase the complexity and amount of paperwork, because they get paid for doing it. More detail, more verbiage, more pages, more signatures, more seals, more "requirements" like using the right color of ink, adds up to Big Bucks--- for them. Not for us.

Unfortunately, we have grown up using THEIR system and so, many people assume that if there are more words and more pages and more complexity, that's good and more "official" and correct, when the opposite is true.

Simpler is always better and stronger. If you can keep a declaration or notice or other communication or contract down to one page and still say all you need to say, you're doing it right and silently invoking the Four Corners Doctrine.

Free yourselves from bureaucracy and from bureaucratic thinking at every opportunity.

Stop making up ridiculous requirements that don't exist. Stop thinking that if you forgot to cross a "t" or used the wrong color of ink or used the wrong mail service, that these petty things invalidate your efforts. Stop thinking that one recording system is better or more official than another. Stop forcing people to "correct" their recordings for specious reasons. Stop charging them arms and legs for very simple services. Stop putting unnecessary obstacles in the way of Americans who are wanting and needing to come home.

The current methods are simple, well-explained, uniform, easy to understand, and shouldn't require any correction or re-recording process or additional fees, and so long as you don't change your political status by accepting new Federal Employment, you should not have to do any of this more than once.

Even if you move and have to re-establish a new home State, your public record paperwork remains as proof of your identity and chosen political status. You would simply need to live in the new State for a year and a day, publish your intent to adopt the new State as your permanent house, home, and domicile of PERSON(S) --- and update your information with the local Assembly.

I have also heard shameful stories of some Assemblies charging people exorbitant fees to record these simple four pages of paperwork --- several hundred apiece in some States. That is completely wrong, both in spirit and in fact. The forms and all the information backing them have been provided to the Assemblies free of charge. Except for "reasonable and customary" fees to record the paperwork, there should be no fees at all, if you are filling out your own forms.

Last, if you are being given the runaround, told to record and then told to re-record, and being charged and charged again and told that it's "the Federation" imposing all these requirements ---- report it. The Federation hasn't changed anything about this process for almost two years and we have no interest in making it difficult or complex--- or expensive--- for people to return home to their birthright political status.

We did recently note that people should be using Registered Mail, Return Receipt Requested, instead of Certified Mail, because Certified Mail is in-house mail between government offices or officials, and we do not want to give anyone the idea that we are acting as a government employee when we are correcting our political status, but we did not suggest that people re-record anything because they made a mistake and sent things out via Certified Mail, because it is understood that they are exiting that system and their intention to leave it, is clear.

Your intention is paramount. That's no excuse for being sloppy or using the wrong mail system when you know better, but it is sufficient to justify your actions undertaken in good faith.

"Fauci" is Sicillian for someone who makes or wields a sickle --- as in the Angel of Death. Just imagine him in a black hooded robe carrying a sickle. And remember that we are dealing with a Death Cult.

Also remember that the Italians were allies of the Nazis and that the SS carried a skull as its emblem, and that the Skull and Bones Society also carries a "death's head" emblem and that pirates the world over fly the skull and crossed bones flag, and that Mystery Babylon is uniquely associated with sailors, and that the British King rules the international sea jurisdiction under the Papal scheme dividing up the spoils of the world, and also that the sea is where Satan -- the "god" these people worship --- was cast down.

It all hangs together in one piece.

The mark of the Transhuman "beast", the Death Cult "reaping" souls, the Nazi Cult --- which is merely another expression of the Mystery Babylon Cult --- conjoined with the Italian members of the same cult secretively sheltering within the shell of the Roman Catholic Church, which Anthony Fauci is a member of.

If you want to be convinced that this Death Cult exists, pull up the YouTube videos of the "Dead Baby" ceremony at the London Olympics, which featured many hundreds of hooded black-robed figures marching around and around a giant effigy of a dead baby in a coffin.

Check out the Bohemian Grove Club in Northern California, where the world's elite have gathered every summer in front of a giant iron furnace shaped like an owl --- identical to the same kinds of "fiery furnaces' used in Babylon to sacrifice the first born child of every couple, and all the unwanted babies that resulted from the practice of Temple Prostitution.

Then go to Carthage, where they've dug up vast numbers of egg-shaped vessels containing the bones of adult victims that were roasted alive in these "pots" and see the evidence that at least some of the victims were eaten in cannibal ceremonies.

The egg-shaped vessels echo the egg-shaped silver "egg" that Semiramis, the founder of the Mystery Babylon Cult, arrived in; she splashed down in the Euphrates River in this silver egg, and promptly left it to sink.

This Founder of The Great Abomination--- which is the Mystery Babylon Cult ---- was a "beautiful woman" with rays of light coming from her head ----identical to what you see in New York Harbor as the "Statue of Liberty" ---- as in "libertine". Realize that "liberty" is not 'freedom".

Realize that you have a Babylonian Goddess "lifting her lamp" representing the Great Abomination, standing where she should not stand, at the gateway of our country. Realize that one of the names of Semiramis is Isis and another one is ---- Columbia. I kid you not, as in "District of Columbia".

And then check out the Cannibal Club and its menu in Los Angeles, and also check out the "menu" published as part of the Pizzagate investigations. More cannibalism. And what did we have in concert with the "free love" generation, but the availability of abortion --- more institutionalized murder, more incremental "acceptance" of baby killing, one of the foundation practices of the Mystery Babylon Cult.

And then, consider that the Municipality of Washington, DC, is in effect a separate country, just like Vatican City, or the Inner City of London, and it is absolutely full of weird symbolism --- pentagrams, obelisks (stone penises), fountains in the shape of open vaginas, bundles of sticks, swastikas, acorns, owls, and more symbols of the occult.

Sacrifice of the First-born has a long, long history. It is not a pretty history. So does the sacrifice and scape-goating of innocent animals, including lambs and babies, as part of a Death Cult that once stretched from Guatemala to Switzerland to China to Northern India to North America, Ireland, and beyond.

The Romans finally suppressed it and did a good job of it, but like a lie that takes on a life of its own, the evil is still there, still lurking in the darkened minds of deluded men and women who have been warped by torture and hypnotic suggestion and the use of mind-altering drugs and the opiates of ignorance, laziness, and ego.

The Church did not become a "Big Deal" until it made its deal with the Devil, at the Council of Nicea. This is where Rome first fornicated with the Church and turned "her" into a whore sitting on the seven hills of Rome, drinking wine from a golden cup--- just like a Communion Chalice.

This is where the Sinners let "Saint" Jerome pick and choose the Canon according to his misogynist Roman mindset, and let him add "homages" written by Paul of Ephesus to the Canon as if they were written by Paul, the Apostle, and let him delete 1,100 years of history from the calendar, to make it look like less time had been spent waiting for Jesus to return. This is where they formulated their impersonation scheme to satisfy their new Roman partners, and dreamed up the whole business of calling Jesus "the Christ" --- the Anointed One, instead of calling him by his actual name, so that the snide but knowing Mystery Babylon Cultists could take joy in having a secret code that only they knew, and could practice their Cult in broad daylight and with a straight face, and fool everyone into calling themselves "Christians" instead of whatever the Followers of Jesus would naturally be called.

More fakery. More impersonation. More substitutions. More mirroring. More double-meanings. More code. More of what we've come to recognize as the modus operandi of the Death Cult.

Well, we know who anointed him --- Mary Magdalene. And we know what she, the High Priestess of the Babylonian Cult, anointed him as --- the High Priest Sacrifice, the Anointed One, indeed.

And all these good people who accept the parables and teachings of Jesus pay no attention to his frequent admissions to his Disciples that he teaches in parables to disguise what he is saying and hide his actual meaning from the crowds. Say what? What kind of game have we landed in? A Rabbi who deliberately disguises his teachings so that people will not understand them?

I can go through the Bible and identify for you two different "Gods" --- the Lord of Life and Truth, and the Lord of Death and Lies --- presented side by side, blow by blow, story by story, as if they were one-in-the-same.

And by far, the Lord of Death takes up more pages with his venom and his actions, because, apparently, The Holy Bible, which translates as The Sun Book, is a combination of the Book of the Dead (persons) with The Book of Life (people), and it is up to us to discern between the two and take away what lessons we will.

I can show you the plan for the new kingdom written as the entire Book of Matthew. I can give you the cynical translation and evil interpretation of every word, a rendition of "what the Bible says" in code, that would turn your hair green.

I can take you to the Book of Isaiah and show you where the Jews in Captivity broadcast their plan to overcome their Assyrian Masters by polluting their water and denaturing their food --- just exactly what the Vermin among us have been doing by adding fluoride to our water and creating GMO's and bleaching our flour and spraying our land with incendiary metallic salts. And all for the profit for "persons" at the expense of people, too.

I am here as an Avenging Angel, the one who keeps the accounts of the words and the numbers. And while it is the will of the Living God that not one should be lost, it is the will of the Evil One that not one shall survive --- and what more devious or typical way for the Evil One to act, than to lie, and tell people that what they are doing to themselves will prolong their lives and the lives of others, when in fact they are volunteering to kill themselves on cue.

I am full up. The bowl of my anger runs over. I am not fooled by all their protestations. I am not deceived by their excuses. I am not allowing them to blame the victims. I am not holding them guiltless. They will not only taste the poisons they have been giving to others, they will reap all that they have sown, unto their very souls. And the separation that they have created, trying to steal from the True God what belongs to him alone, will be their endless abode.

In vain, they seek the darkness of their caverns. In vain, they wish to cover themselves again, but their nakedness is known. In vain, they try to avoid the words spoken here. These words will have their full recompense. This judgment issued against them will have its impact. Not all the darkness of December, and not the stopping of the tides will relieve them; no, they will be carried away like the dry leaves in autumn. And no one will mourn for their passing.

Regarding Lucifer

When I was 41 years old, I was granted a great gift. I was enabled to recall my prior lives going back more than 60,000 years on this planet and to see all the many roles and experiences that I as a living soul have had --- my personal history and my enduring knowledge.

This is to say, that when you can recall all the many lifetimes that you, too, have experienced, you will know for sure that yes, you have lived in bodies of every sex, kind, and color, endured many, many physical deaths, and every time that you have been incarnate --- you learned things that are, to a greater or lesser extent, pertinent to your life today.

Think of a mushroom which appears on the surface of the forest floor, but which is supported by a vast thread-like network of mycelium that is unseen. You are similarly apparent and physical, but you are supported by a vast network of hidden, unconscious connections at an energetic level.

This vast biological computer network can be accessed via the 90-plus percent of your brain which you don't use --- which has largely lain dormant and been turned "off" deliberately by the enemies of mankind --- the same parasites we have discussed with respect to the corruption of the governments on Earth.

This planet has been a sanctuary and refuge for different waves of aliens who have come here to escape war, as well as visitors who have come here to trade and to establish communications, etc.

The two interplanetary wars that have affected us most are known as The War in the Heavens, which is very ancient, and The Great Plasma War, which occurred 32,000 years ago.

The refugees from The War in the Heavens amounted to a small group of escapees who were members of a caste-system society that resulted from an even earlier war, so to understand who and what these refugees are/were, it is important to know the following history:

The Seraphim are a race of what we have called "Angels" living in the Sirius Star System. It's here that the fight started, with renegade Seraphim conquering first the Orion Star System and next, the Pleiadian Star System.

These corrupted Seraphim set themselves up as priests in a caste system they established, forced the conquered Orions (Aryans) to serve them as soldiers, and enslaved the Pleiadian Merchants to carry on beneficial trade for them.

This history is recorded in part in the Bible and in other ancient manuscripts and scriptures, so it's not just my personal Soul Memory backing this.

The Seraphim priests were not as long-lived or as hearty as the Draco hybrids that they created from the Orion (Aryan) captives, and even though they, the Seraphim, mated with human ancestors, and intermarried to try to keep the "bloodline" going, it eventually petered out and only occasionally reasserts itself in individuals who are throwbacks to the parent race---- much as you might be the first person in your family to go bald in a hundred years. Or more.

So the Seraphim heritage is still here, but rarely expressed in the progeny they left behind.

This left the surviving Draco Overlords in charge, without a Master (Priest) to direct their activities, and left the succeeding generations of Pleiadian Merchants at loose ends, too.

When The War in the Heavens ended, they felt they couldn't go home, so they stayed here, and as all they knew was war, they created war in order to employ themselves. And they sought out "priests" to give them instructions, trying vainly to re-establish the caste system they were programmed to live within, but which no longer existed.

These individuals, for the most part, are more to be pitied than censured. They are what they are because they were deliberately genetically created to be soldiers. It's embedded in their neural network and they can no more change it (without intervention) than you could change your natural hair color.

They adopted human priests to serve, in hopes that the Seraphim would speak through their Nephilim children, but the humanoid offspring are increasingly short-lived as the Seraphim component of their heritage dilutes into the general population, and even if the Seraphim off-spring have the capacity to fulfill their role, their lifespan is too short to provide the stability and long-term direction the Dracos need.

At the beginning of this current saga, circa 2,500 BC, only twenty Dracos remained. They do die, but they are so long-lived in comparison to people that we are (almost) like mayflies to them. In the intervening centuries, seven more died, so that by the beginning of the 1300's, only 13 remained. Another, Marduk, died a few years ago, leaving 12 aged Dracos in charge.

These are the 12 who came to visit me and say good-bye as they depart back to the Orion Star System which is home to them.

What we are left with is an imposter, calling himself "Lucifer", claiming to be the son of the rebel Seraphim Archangel who started The War in the Heavens. This is a ridiculous claim on many levels.

This character calling himself "Lucifer" has kept a wide berth away from me, but others in my sphere have been contacted and he has attempted to coerce them into doing various ugly things. They describe him as a small Italianate person who speaks and acts like a mafiosi and who claims to own all three of the now-defunct Federal Subcontractors.

Well, let's see, the American Federal Republic has been inoperable since 1860, so that is owning a whole lot of nothing, unless you claim to own the United States Trust, which belongs instead --- not to any individual --- but to our Member States. That is, the Nevada State Trust belongs to Nevada, not Big Mo.

Then there is the latest failed iteration of "the" United States of America, Inc., which went bankrupt and failed its Performance Test as a recipient of our Delegated Powers; so, by Operation of Law, the Delegated Powers returned to the Federation of States, and we have declined to accept a Successor contract.

Read that--- the British affiliates are working without a contract, and everything that they own in ours by default, unavailable to serve as chattel for credit purposes, and unavailable to Secondary Creditors as payment in liquidation. So, nobody owns any of that, except for our States of the Union and our People.

Finally, the Municipal Corporation, which never had any granted right to operate in this country the way that it has, also went bankrupt a number of years ago, and recently emerged in the form of a would-be Successor led by Joe Biden. They similarly lost any contract and we similarly accepted back the Delegated Powers and refused to assume a Successor Contract with them, their heirs or their assigns. So they don't have a contract, either.

All three Federal Subcontractors are officially as dead as bugs with all six feet in the air, and nobody claiming to "own" them has anything of value: one long-dead and dis-assembled American Service Company, and two officially bankrupt corporations.

Talk about trying to shoot the world on a wooden nickel....!

The Trusts left behind all belong to the American States and People, who are still represented as they have been since September 1776, by our unincorporated Federation of States doing business as The United States of America--- not to be confused with "the" United States, Inc, "the" UNITED STATES, "the" United States of America, Inc., or even "The" United States of America, Incorporated, US, INC., USA, Inc. ---- or any of the rest of the "derivatives" these fraudsters have passed off "in our names".

Mr. Lucifer has either been conned, or is trying to con, the world.

I am calling upon All Those Present, alive and dead, to put an end to this nonsense, arrest Mr. Lucifer, and put him aboard a transport ship back to his native planet for rehabilitation. He is not a Seraphim, whatever else he may be.

All the original Seraphim died within a couple thousand years of their arrival here, and their bloodlines have been dying out ever since.

While he is on this planet, he is subject to the Universal Law of our Creator, and he has broken it by voluntary compliance with and observance of, idolatry, by lying, by trespass upon others and their assets, by disrespecting our freewill, by promoting acts of genocide, and by harming the ecosphere of this planet via his agents and investments, by broadcasting harmful EMF frequencies, by weaponizing communications networks, and most recently, promoting the entire worldwide "health emergency" to profit himself.

This guy is a criminal and a Hoaxer and he needs to go. This planet, Earth, known as Terra, is not his natural home, and there is no excuse for lack of intervention in this case. He has offered his solutions and his leadership, and we've said no.

We are not deceived. We have passed the test.

Now, we would like to enjoy our Natural Estate in peace and for there to be abundance for everyone, and for an end of all war-like activities and profiteering from war; the Dracos are gone, and let war be gone with them.

We know the implements of peace and we have earned our place. Observe our flag --- the peacetime flag.

The Church's Year

On this Sunday again, the Church calls on us to rejoice in the Advent of the Redeemer, and at the Introit sings:

INTROIT Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say, rejoice. Let your modesty be known to all men: for the Lord is nigh. Be nothing solicitous; but in every thing by prayer let your requests be made known to God (Phil. 4). Lord, thou hast blessed thy land; thou hast turned away the captivity of Jacob (Ps. 84). Glory be to the Father and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

COLLECT Incline Thine ear, O Lord, we beseech Thee, unto our prayers: and enlighten the darkness of our mind by the grace of thy visitation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ Thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with Thee, in the Unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end, Amen.

EPISTLE (Phil. 4:4-7). Brethren, rejoice in the Lord always; again I say, rejoice. Let your modesty be known to all men. The Lord is nigh. Be nothing solicitous; but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your petitions be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasseth all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus our Lord.

What is meant by "rejoicing in the Lord"?

By "rejoicing in the Lord" is meant rejoicing in the grace of the true faith we have received, in the hope of obtaining eternal happiness; rejoicing in the protection of the most High under which we stand; and in the persecution for justice's sake in which Christ Himself exhorts us to rejoice, and in which the Apostle Paul gloried (II Cor. 7:4).

What else does St. Paul teach in this epistle?

He exhorts us to give all a good example by a modest and edifying life, to which we should be directed by the remembrance of God's presence and His coming to judgment (Chrysostom. 33, in Joann.); he warns us against solicitude about temporal affairs, advising us to cast our care on God, who will never abandon us in our needs, if we entreat Him with confidence and humility.

In what does "the Peace of God" consist?

It consists in a good conscience (Ambrose), in which St. Paul gloried and rejoiced beyond measure (II Cor. 1:12). This peace of the soul sustained all the martyrs, and consoled many others who suffered for justice's sake. Thus St. Tibertius said to the tyrant: "We count all pain as naught, for our conscience is at peace." There cannot be imagined a greater joy than that which proceeds from the peace of a good conscience. It must be experienced to be understood.

ASPIRATION The peace of God, that surpasseth all understanding, preserve our hearts in Christ Jesus. Amen.

 

COMFORT AND RELIEF IN SORROW

“Is any one troubled, let him pray" (Jas. 5:13).

There is no greater or more powerful comfort in sorrow than in humble and confiding prayer, to complain to God of our wants and cares, as did the sorrowful Anna, mother of the prophet Samuel, (I Kings 10) and the chaste Susanna when she was falsely accused of adultery and sentenced to death (Dan. 13:35). So the pious King Ezechias complained in prayer of the severe oppression with which he was threatened by Senacherib (IV Kings 19:14). So also King Josaphat made his trouble known to God only, saying: But as we know not what to do, we can only turn our eyes on Thee (11 Para. 20:12). They all received aid and comfort from God. Are you sad and in trouble? Lift up your soul with David and say: To Thee I have lifted up my eyes, who dwellest in heaven. Behold as the eyes of servants are on the hands of their masters, as the eyes of the handmaid are on the hands of her mistress: so are our eyes unto the Lord our God, until He shall have mercy on us (Ps. 122:1-3). Give joy to the soul of Thy servant, for to Thee, O Lord, I have lifted up my soul (Ps. 85:4).

GOSPEL (Jn. 1:19-28). At that time the Jews sent from Jerusalem priests and Levites to John, to ask him, Who art thou? And he confessed, and did not deny; and he confessed: I am not the Christ. And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he said: I am not. Art thou the prophet? And he answered, No. They said therefore unto him, Who art thou, that we may give an answer to them that sent us? what sayst thou of thyself? He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Isaias. And they that were sent were of the Pharisees. And they asked him, and said to him: Why then dost thou baptize, if thou be not Christ, nor Elias, nor the prophet? John answered them, saying: I baptize with water: but there hath stood one in the midst of you, whom you know not: the same is he that shall come after me, who is preferred before me, the latchet of whose shoe I am not worthy to loose. These things were done in Bethania beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.

Why did the Jews send messengers to St. John to ask him who he was?

Partly because of their curiosity, when they saw St. John leading such a pure, angelic and penitential life; partly, as St. Chrysostom says, out of envy, because St. John preached with such spiritual force, baptized and exhorted the people to penance, that the inhabitants of Jerusalem came to him in great numbers; partly, and principally, they were impelled by the providence of God to demand publicly of St. John, if he were the Messiah, and thus be directed to Christ that they might be compelled to acknowledge Him as the Messiah, or have no excuse for rejecting Him.

Why did the Jews ask St. John, if he were not Elias or the prophet?

The Jews falsely believed that the Redeemer was to come into this world but once, then with great glory, and that Elias or one of the old prophets would come before Him, to prepare His way, as Malachias (4:5) had prophesied of St. John; so when St. John said of himself that he was not the Messiah, they asked him, if he were not then Elias or one of the prophets. But Elias, who was taken alive from this world in a fiery chariot, will not reappear until just before the second coming of Christ.

Why did St. John say, he was not Elias or the Prophet?

Because he was not Elias, and, in reality, not a prophet in the Jewish sense of the word, but more than a prophet, because he announced that Christ had come, and pointed Him out.

Why does St. John call himself "the voice of one crying in the wilderness"?

Because in his humility, he desired to acknowledge that he was only an instrument through which the Redeemer announced to the abandoned and hopeless Jews the consolation of the Messiah, exhorting them to bear worthy fruits of penance.

How do we bear worthy fruits of penance?

We bear fruits of penance, when after our conversion, we serve God and justice with the same zeal with which we previously served the devil and iniquity; when we love God as fervently as we once loved the flesh-that is, the desires of the flesh-and the pleasures of the world; when we give our members to justice as we once gave them to malice and impurity (Rom. 6:19), when the mouth that formerly uttered improprieties, when the ears that listened to detraction or evil speech, when the eyes that looked curiously upon improper objects, now rejoice in the utterance of words pleasing to God, to hear and to see things dear to Him; when the appetite that was given to the luxury of eating and drinking, now abstains; when the hands give back what they have stolen; in a word, when we put off the old man, who was corrupted, and put on the new man, who is created in justice and holiness of truth (Eph. 4:22-24).

What was the baptism administered by St. John, and what were its effects?

The baptism administered by John was only a baptism of penance for forgiveness of sins (Lk. 3:3). The ignorant Jews not considering the greatness of their transgressions, St. John came exhorting them to acknowledge their sins, and do penance for them; that being converted, and truly contrite, they might seek their Redeemer, and thus obtain remission of their offences. We must then conclude, that St. John's baptism was only a ceremony or initiation, by which the Jews enrolled themselves as his disciples to do penance, as a preparation for the remission of sin by means of the second baptism, viz., of Jesus Christ.

What else can be learned from this gospel?

We learn from it to be always sincere, especially at the tribunal of penance, and to practice the necessary virtue of humility, by which, in reply to the questions of the Jews, St. John confessed the truth openly and without reserve, as shown by the words: The latchet of whose shoe I am not worthy to loose, as the lowest of Christ's servants, giving us an example of humility and sincerity, which should induce us always to speak the truth, and not only not to seek honor, but to give to God all the honor shown us by man. Have you not far more reason than John, who was such a great saint, to esteem yourself but little, and to humble yourself before God and man? "My son," says Tobias (4:14), "never suffer pride to reign in thy mind, or in thy words: for from it all perdition took its beginning."

ASPIRATION O Lord, banish from my heart all envy, jealousy and pride. Grant me instead, to know myself and Thee, that by the knowledge of my nothingness, misery and vices, I may always remain unworthy in my own eyes, and that by the contemplation of Thy infinite perfections, I may seek to prize Thee above all, to love and to glorify Thee, and practice charity towards my neighbor. Amen.

Most people live in the artificial construct of a “polite” society. They follow the rules, obey authority and call 911 when they have a problem that needs to be solved by men with guns.
