How The Corrupt Establishment Is Selling Moral Bankruptcy To America

Morality is a highly misunderstood component of human nature. Some people believe they can create moral guidelines from thin air based on their personal biases and prejudices. Some people believe that morality comes from the force of bureaucracy and government law. Still, others believe that there is no such thing; that morality is a facade created by men in order to better grease the wheels of society.

All of these world views discount the powerful scientific and psychological evidence surrounding Natural Law — the laws that human beings form internally due to inherent conscience, regardless of environmental circumstances. When a person finally grasps inborn morality, the whole of the world comes into focus. The reality is that we are not born “good” or “evil.” Rather, we are all born with the capacity for good AND evil, and this internal battle stays with us until the end of our days.

Every waking moment we are given a choice, a test of our free will, to be ruled by desire and fear, or to do what we know at our very core is right. When a man silences his inner voice, the results can be terrible for him and those around him. When an entire culture silences its inner voice, the results can be catastrophic. Such a shift in the moral compass of a society rarely takes place in a vacuum. There is always a false shepherd, a corrupt leadership that seeks to rule. Rulership, though, is difficult in the face of an awake population that respects integrity and honor. Therefore criminals must follow these specific steps in order to take power:

Pretend To Be Righteous: They must first sell the public on the idea that they hold the exact same values of natural law as everyone else. The public must at first believe that the criminal leaders are pure in their motives and have the best interests of the nation at heart, even if they secretly do not.

Pretend To Be Patriotic: Despots often proclaim an untarnished love of their homeland and the values that it was founded upon. However, what they really seek is to become a living symbol of the homeland. They insist first that they are the embodiment of the national legacy, and then they attempt to change that national legacy entirely. A corrupt government uses the ideals of a society to acquire a foothold, and when they have gained sufficient control, they dictate to that society a new set of ideals that are totally contrary to the original.

Offer To “Fix” The Economy: Tyrants do not like it when the citizens under them are self sufficient or economically independent. They will use whatever methods are at their disposal including subversive legislation, fiat currency creation, corporate monopoly and even engineered financial collapse in order to remove the public’s ability to function autonomously. They will begin this process under the guise that the current less-controlled and less-centralized system is “not safe enough,” and that they have a better way to ensure prosperity.

Offer To Lend A Hand: Once the population has been removed from its own survival imperative and is for the most part helpless, the criminal leadership moves in and offers to “help” using taxation and money creation, slowly siphoning the wealth from the middle class and raising prices through inflation. Eventually, everyone will be “equal”; equally poor that is. In the end, the whole nation will see the rulership as indispensable, for without them, the economy would no longer exist and tragedy would ensue.

Create External Fear: Once in place, the criminal leadership then conjures an enemy for the people, or multiple enemies for the people. The goal here is to create a catalyst for mass fear. When the majority of people are afraid of an external threat, they will embrace the establishment as a vital safeguard. When a society becomes convinced that it cannot take care of itself economically, little coaxing is required to convince them that they are also not competent enough to take care of their own defense. At this point, the establishment has free reign to dissolve long cherished freedoms while the masses are distracted by a mysterious threat hiding somewhere over the horizon.

Create Internal Fear: They move the threat from over the horizon, right to the public’s front door, or even within their own home. The enemy is no longer a foreigner. Now, the enemy is the average looking guy two houses over, or an outspoken friend, or even a dissenting family member. The enemy is all around them, according to the establishment. The public is sold on the idea that the sacrifice needed in order to combat such a pervasive “threat” is necessarily high.

Sell The People On The Virtues Of Moral Relativism: Now that the populace is willing to forgo certain liberties for the sake of security, they have been softened up enough for reprogramming to begin. The establishment will tell the people that the principles they used to hold so dear are actually weaknesses that make them vulnerable to the enemy. In order to defeat an enemy so monstrous, they claim, we must become monstrous ourselves. We must be willing to do ANYTHING, no matter how vile or contrary to natural law, in order to win.

Honesty must be replaced with deceit. Dissent must be replaced with silence. Peace must be replaced with violence. The independent should be treated with suspicion. The outspoken treated with contempt. Women and children are no longer people to be protected, but targets to be eliminated. The innocent dead become collateral damage. The innocent living become informants to be tortured and exploited. Good men are labeled cowards because they refuse to “do what needs to be done,” while evil men are labeled heroes for having the “strength of will” to abandon their conscience.

Thus, the criminal leadership makes once honorable citizens accomplices in the crime. The more disgusting the crime, the more apt the people will be to defend it and the system in general, simply because they have been inducted into the dark ceremony of moral ambiguity.

The actions of the state become the actions of all society. A single minded collectivist culture is born, one in which every person is a small piece of the greater machine. And, that which the machine is guilty of, every man is guilty of. Therefore, it becomes the ultimate and absurd purpose of each person within the system to DENY the crime, deny the guilt, and make certain that the machine continues to function for generations to come.

Though we have already passed though most of the above stages, Americans are still not yet quite indoctrinated into the realm of moral relativism. This is, though, swiftly changing.

The Current Sales Pitch

Just take a look at the attitude of the Barack Obama Administration and the mainstream media towards Edward Snowden and his recent asylum approved by Russia.

The White House, rather than admitting wrongdoing in its support for the NSA’s mass surveillance of American citizens without warrant, or even attempting to deny the existence of the PRISM program, is now instead trying to promote NSA spying as essential to our well being, and wag a shaming finger at Snowden and the Russian government for damaging their domestic spy network. Obama lamented on Russia’s stance, stating that their thinking is “backwards.”

Did I miss something here? I’m no fan of the Russian oligarchy, but shouldn’t Obama and most of the NSA (let alone every other Federal alphabet agency) be sitting in a dark hole somewhere awaiting trial for violating the Constitution on almost every level? Yet, we are instead supposed to despise Snowden for exposing the crime they committed and distrust any country that happens to give him shelter?

Due to public outcry, Obama has attempted to pacify critics by announcing plans to make NSA mass surveillance “more transparent”. First, I would like to point out that he did not offer to end NSA spying on Americans without warrant, which is what a President with any ounce of integrity would have done. Second, Obama’s calls for more transparency have come at the exact same time as the NSA announces its plans to remove 90 percent of its systems administrators to make sure another “Snowden incident” does not occur.

Does this sound like an agency that plans on becoming “more transparent”?

Second, would Obama have called for ANY transparency over the NSA whatsoever if Snowden had never come forward? Of course not! The exposure of the crime has led to lies and empty placation, nothing more.

In the meantime, numerous other political miscreants have hit the media trail, campaigning for the NSA as well as other surveillance methods, bellowing to the rafters over the absolute necessity of domestic spy programs. Fifteen years ago, the government would have tried to sweep all of this under the rug. Today, they want to acclimate us to the inevitability of the crime, stating that we had better get used to it.

Their position? That Snowden’s whistleblowing put America at risk. My questions is, how? How did Snowden’s exposure of an unConstitutional and at bottom illegal surveillance program used against hundreds of millions of innocent Americans do our country harm? Is it the position of the White House that the truth is dangerous, and deceit is safety?

I suspect this is the case considering the recent treatment of military whistleblower Bradley Manning, who has been accused by some to have “aided Al Qaeda’s recruiting efforts”through his actions.

How did Manning do this? By releasing information, including battlefield videos, that were hidden from the public containing proof of U.S. war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Perhaps I’m just a traditionalist and not hip to modern diplomatic strategy, but I would think that if you don’t want to be blamed for war crimes, then you probably shouldn’t commit war crimes. And, if you don’t want the enemy to gain new recruits, you should probably avoid killing innocent civilians and pissing off their families. Just a thought.

So, just to keep track, U.S. government commits war crimes, but is the good guy. Bradley Manning exposes war crimes, and is the bad guy. Moral relativism at its finest. Moving on…

The shift towards moral bankruptcy is being implemented in the financial world as well. Investors, hedge funds, and major banks now surge into the stock market every time the private Federal Reserve hints that it may continue fiat stimulus. When bad news hits the mainstream feeds, people playing the Dow casino actually cheer with glee, exactly because bad economic news means more QE from the Fed. They know that the Fed is artificially propping up the markets. The Fed openly admits that it does this. And they know that our fiscal system is hanging by a thin thread. And you know what, very few of them care.

The Fed created the collapse with easy money and manipulated interest rates, and now, some people cheer them as the heroes of the U.S. financial structure.

The American narrative is quickly changing. There has long been criminality and degeneracy within our government and the corporate cartels surrounding it, but I believe what we are witnessing today is the final step in the metamorphosis that is totalitarianism. The last stage accelerates when the average citizen is not just complicit in the deeds of devils, but when he becomes a devil himself. When Americans froth and stomp in excitement for the carnival of death, and treat the truth as poison, then the transformation will be complete.

My Comments:
The hierarchy of law starts at the top, with the Divine author.  Positive Divine Law is the first part of law that the people Brandon is talking about try to erase from their memory and conscience. Some spend decades trying to destroy that little voice, and the very first laws they try to forget are the Ten Commandments.
Those are the highest law because they were authored by our Creator who keeps all things in existence by a mere act of His Holy Will.
The next laws, are the natural laws which He put into spin when he created this world and the universe. They are what we have to deal with on a daily basis, and what Brandon is talking about in this article.
The lowest laws are the man made laws, including Church law, Constitutional laws, civil and criminal laws, and down to the lowest at the local level, ordinances.
All of this body of lower law is now corrupted according to the will of corrupt politicians. The only part of this body of law that still claims credence in God's eyes is the common law which is not being followed at all in this world.
So Brandon is dead right as far as his article goes, and it's a good lesson to train one's conscience in all this law. Once we get our feet on the ground we have some place to stand, and the higher laws should provide that moral ground. So pray and study, and don't let these evil people confuse you about what is good or evil.

The Police State Mindset in Our Public Schools

Once upon a time in America, parents breathed a sigh of relief when their kids went back to school after a summer’s hiatus, content in the knowledge that for a good portion of the day their kids would be gainfully occupied, out of harm’s way and out of trouble. Those were the good old days, before school shootings became a part of our national lexicon and schools, aiming for greater security, transformed themselves into quasi-prisons, complete with surveillance cameras, metal detectors, police patrols, zero tolerance policies, lock downs, drug sniffing dogs and strip searches.

Unfortunately, somewhere along the way, instead of making the schools safer, we simply managed to make them more authoritarian. It used to be that if you talked back to a teacher, or played a prank on a classmate, or just failed to do your homework, you might find yourself in detention or doing an extra writing assignment after school. Nowadays, students are not only punished for transgressions more minor than those—such as playing cops and robbers on the playground, bringing LEGOs to school, or having a food fight—but they are punished with suspension, expulsion, and even arrest.

If any group or this man think that the world's problems can be solved without appeal to Almighty God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, they are batting at the breeze.
The methods of operation of these various groups seems to me to be ruthless and Godless, even including the Freemasons he talks about being aligned with the Vatican.

The corporate government of the US is certainly one of the most evil and the perpetrator of much war, and must be stopped and the power given back to the people, but it's not going to happen until the people get on their knees and beg God for forgiveness for living without being mindful of His Holy Will in our lives.

There is NO other solution besides God's Grace and Mercy. Pray every day that His Divine Will be done on earth.  Nobody gets out of this world alive. Everyone will be off the fence before this is over, and there are only two sides of the fence.  For God, or Against Him.  Everyone gets to make an eternal decision before they die.

CNN raises alarm over Ted Cruz eligibility

CNN, which like other establishment media outlets largely has ignored questions about Barack Obama’s constitutional eligibility, suddenly is concerned about whether Republican Sen. Ted Cruz would qualify for the Oval Office.

After noting that several constitutional law experts believe Cruz would be eligible, Wolf Blitzer and Athena Jones pointed out the firebrand who has challenged the Internal Revenue Service and Obama’s political appointees “wasn’t born in the United States.” 

He was born in Canada to a U.S. citizen mother and a Cuban father.

“He’s taken the Senate by storm, stirring up controversy and ruffling feathers on both sides of the aisle in his first months on the job,” Blitzer said. “For that Ted Cruz is a tea-party favorite already generating lots of buzz about the 2016 race for the White House. However, the question isn’t only will he run, but can he run under the U.S. Constitution?”

SSB NEWS - August 1, 2013 Silver has rallied a little as expected. What I don't know yet is whether there will be one more test or break of the previous lows or the rally will continue a while longer. Precious metals and the stock markets may move together this month.

Stocks should be putting in the final subdivisions of the rally. Because members are receiving this newsletter throughout the month I sometimes add updates during the month. If you are ever wondering what my current outlook is for any market during the month just send me an email and I'll let you know.  The important thing to understand is stocks are making a major, historic top not a bottom (which was over 4 years ago during March 2009).

I still expect that deflation will accelerate, that interest rates will continue higher and bonds will continue to lose value (though those trends may temporarily correct this month), that stock markets have formed (or are still forming) a major top and will lose most of their value over the next 3 years with mid-2016 still the best guess as to when there could be a major low and entry point for stocks, bonds, real estate and some commodities.  Silver, if it hasn't already,  could bottom before stocks (since it topped two years ahead of stocks which should now catch up over the next two years). And it's insurance in case there is a sudden shift out of US Dollars into a gold-backed currency should one start.

There are always rumors that China continues to buy gold and could at some point start a gold backed currency designed to replace the USD as the world's reserve currency.  While I estimate that this won't happen for 3 to 5 years it may never happen or it may happen anytime.

Some of  our members live in countries where their currencies are being downgraded and are already in rapid decline toward default. That's why it's always better to be early in converting at least some paper currency into silver.  And you just never know when your country will add restrictions that make it harder or impossible to buy silver so that's another reason to get silver while you can if you can.

THE MARKETSUS Stocks - Down - either right now or soon.  Long term trend points down though mid 2016. The next phase down in stocks will be larger than the 50% 2000 - 2002 decline or the 54% 2007 - 2009 decline. The public is still clueless as they seem not to remember those declines. I expect ALL world stock markets to fall hard. 

US Dollar -  Up. The short term correction expected last month may be over.  Intermediate term the dollar rally may continue long enough to get people convinced that dollars will always be valuable. That will  be the top. Long term trend remains down, as is the case of  all unbacked paper currencies since the beginning of history.  I expect there will be a change in the US Dollar, meaning a revaluation or new version of it, like what tends to happen with all fiat currency from time to time. I believe this will happen before the end of this decade. Whenever it happens I believe silver holders will benefit.  My guess is the world is a few years away from replacing the dollar and meanwhile the dollar has found an intermediate term bottom and will remain the world reserve currency for several more years. The Euro might disappear or be used by fewer countries.

Interest Rates - We may get a brief pause in the trend toward higher rates. Long term trend turned up July 26, 2012 when the 30 year US Bond rate bottomed at 2.44%.  The 30 year US Bond rate just hit 3.75% showing that interest rates are indeed rising despite all the Fed is doing to try to keep rates low.  In the end the markets are the boss.

Bonds - We may get a brief rally in bonds which should be just a correction in the downtrend. Long term Down.  Many bonds, from high yield corporate (junk) to municipal bonds will default during coming credit contraction. The bond bubble will deflate. Bonds lose value as interest rates rise. Investors think they are in safe bonds and funds. They aren't.

Oil - Peaking.

Precious Metals - Short term neutral. Intermediate term correction that began in 2011 may continue a couple more years. Long term trend remains up.

Real Estate - Down.

The Economy - Down. Deflation will resume.  Unemployment is already 30% to 50% in some countries. This will spread. Thousands of banks will fail. There will be widespread social unrest as many government benefits are cut. This trend, which has already begun in some countries will spread to all the rich (in debt) countries. Several long term indicators I follow all point to the year 2016, in fact, the middle of 2016 as the most likely place for stocks to bottom, followed by the economy. If it does happen then 2016 could be the time to get back into traditional things like stocks, bonds, mutual funds if they still exist, real estate, and anything else you want to buy at bargain, 90% off, prices - assuming they can keep the lights on wherever you live.

There are many other officers who are not out of control, but most do NOT understand their duties to preserve the freedom and liberty of the people. That is because many of them have never been given an in depth training of their OATH OF OFFICE TO THE US CONSTITUTION and what it requires of them.

ANYONE WHO WEARS A UNIFORM AND BADGE must be held to a higher standard of knowledge about what they swore to uphold than the average man on the street.
Anyone who has the awesome power of arrest ABSOLUTELY MUST have the knowledge required to observe the supreme law they swore to keep.

THERE ARE NO EXCUSES.  We are all required to have the requisite knowledge of the duties of our station in life. If I didn't know how to start up a jet airplane and fly it away I would not be held to be ignorant, but if I were a pilot I would.  The same applies to the police. If they can't control themselves within the parameters and requirements of their job description they should be fired and those in charge should find someone that can.

I have a friend that was on an interview board for hiring new police officers some time ago. They routinely turned down a high percentage of the applicants because with their attitude discovered during the interviews they WERE NOT FIT TO WEAR A GUN AND BADGE.

Ultimately it is up to the people who pay the salaries of these police to stop the brutality. Period. Enough said.

Dr. Orly Taitz, Esquire is a dentist and attorney.  She is also the
Founder of Defend Our Freedoms Foundation.  Over the last four years,
Taitz has become one of the active ‘birthers’ in the nation, filing a
number of lawsuits and request for information under the Freedom of
Information Act. One of the cases she filed was to compel Barack Obama
to produce his registration record at Occidental College.  The case is Taitz v. Obama,
Feinstein, Emken and is now being appealed in the Fourth District Court
of Appeals in the Superior Court of California.  The case number is
G047746 and the Superior Court case number is 30-2012-00582135. The
original case claimed that there was over 100 pages of documentation
proving that Barack Obama was indeed a citizen of Indonesia at the
time of his college registration at Occidental College and that he
used forged and fraudulent means to secure IDs.  Superior Court Judge
Charles Marginis ruled in favor of Occidental College and denied the
motion to force the production of Obama’s college registration forms. The appeal
was re-instated by the Chief Judge of the Fourth District
Court of Appeal Kathleen O’Leary. When the case was appealed, all
parties were given 15 days to file their Appellee’s brief.  Taitz
filed her brief with the court in the allotted time.  When Obama,
Feinstein and Emken failed to file their briefs,
they were given an additional 15 days and once again they failed to
file their Appellee’s brief. In response the failure of the Appellees,
Taitz filed a notice with the court that contained a notice of the failure of the
Appellees to file their briefs within the allotted time frame. 
She also submitted additional information with the court stating that she was recently
approached by a woman who claimed to work for the Higher Education
Services Corporation in Albany, New York.  The whistle-blower told
Taitz that she had personally seen and reviewed Barack Obama’s
financial aid information at Occidental College.  That information listed the
financial aid he received due to the fact that he was a foreign student
and a citizen of Indonesia. The whistle-blower provider her name, work
email, personal email, home and cell phone numbers.  Through investigation,
Taitz has verified that woman’s information and her employment at the
Higher Education Services Corporation. 
Taitz also noted in her updated filing that when Obama
transferred from Occidental College to Columbia that his financial aid
information would also transfer and that it would have gone through the
hands of the Higher Education Services Corporation in Albany, New
York. Taitz was informed by the whistle-blower that Higher Education
Services Corporation’s policy is to never destroy any records, but to preserve
them on microfilm in a safe at the corporation.  She also said that
several employees made copies of the microfilm containing Obama’s
information just in case the company decided to destroy the evidence.
She stated that the whistle-blower came forward because she is
concerned that Obama is not eligible to be President since he is, or
was, an Indonesian citizen.  In lieu of this new information, she is again
requesting that the court compels Barack Obama and /or Occidental
College to provide his registration and financial aid information.
Whether you believe Taitz claim or not, you have ask yourself why has
Obama spent over $3 million to hide and conceal virtually every piece
of personal history and documentation from his birth to his election
as President?  What secrets are contained in these documents that he
fears? If he is a US citizen as he claims, wouldn’t it make sense for
him to provide his records and put all of the controversy and birther
conspiracies to rest?  If he has nothing to hide, then why is he going
to such great lengths to hide it?

This treason is what your bailout money bought!

DENVER COLLEGE STUDENTS FLUNK 8TH-GRADE EXAM

Maybe there is an explanation for the 2012 presidential election – in the responses from students at Denver’s Metropolitan State College, who took stabs at explaining the eligibility requirements to be president.

Those have been all over the news over the last five years because of the controversy over Barack Obama’s obscure birth records and whether, in fact, he even qualifies to be president. Books have been written on the topic and Obama himself even addressed it in a White House news conference where he released a document that he purported to be his birth certificate from the state of Hawaii.

These are very effective deterrents and will work with bears and other animals as well.

In a study done in Colorado where these were tested in comparison to several other forms of animal control including bear spray (pepper spray) the stun guns came out on top every time.

About 30% of the time a bear will walk right through the spray and keep on coming, but just putting the stun gun up and snapping the arc for one second from 30 or so feet away will turn a bear around absolutely every time. It triggers some kind of flight response in the bear.

Maybe the bear thinks it's lightening, or fire, but they turn around and run every time.

That might also work with an assailant, but if it doesn't a one second contact with these stun guns will put even the biggest guy on the ground and give you time to get away.

Of course if they are coming at you with lethal force, your sidearm is still your best defense, that is if you have proper training, and keep your cool.  Never use lethal force unless it's very clear that your life is in danger.

We have been telling our readers for a couple of years now that the 2008 bank failures are just a prelude to the real thing that is happening world wide. We have said there is a currency war going on to decide among insiders who will control the issue of currencies after the crash, and what will eventually be considered "money" in the new economy that they hope to control.

We have also said that now is the best time to wrest control away from those insiders by buying commodities like food, guns, ammo, dry goods, and all other staple items you would need to survive, and if you have anything left after that, some silver.

The article above seems to confirm and put somewhat of a timeline on those events. We have also listened recently to a conference call that seems to point at October 1st as a final deadline for several government agencies that seem to be putting in place preparations for some cataclysmic event about to happen in October that the public has NOT been told about.

My family and I are following our own advice and trying to get all the loose ends tied up that our budget will allow by that October 1st date also.

Frankly, I thought this would have happened by now, and I think it's only the ignorance of the people that has let these banks float this fraud for this long, but people are waking up. At the gun shows this is very evident. I am selling preparedness products like radios, and portable solar power equipment like there will never be any more made on the planet, and I am taking on a line of stun guns, which you will see on one of my websites within the next few weeks, and also at the gun shows starting this month.

It's getting very late, and people know it. To prove it, at the last gun show in Kalispell the end of July, the guy next to me had 22LR ammo for $75 per brick of 500 rounds, and had just sold 100 bricks in Anchorage the week before at $100 per brick.  Don't ask me where he found that much ammo, but it must have been a few years back.

There is so much going on world wide now that it's very difficult to even read about all of it let alone try to present it all to my readers. The BRICS nations, (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, have met again and continue to try to unseat the FRN (dollar) as the world's reserve currency. Frankly, that is the only status that keeps the dollar from collapsing, and they are continuing to write trade agreements with several countries EXCLUDING the US dollar in the trades. We are going to see a complete reset of the world's currencies soon and the dollar is going to get a very short end of the stick.

We are following our own advice and keeping our operating capital OUT of the banking system. We only send money by cashiers check now, so the balance is out of the bank when we walk out the door and head for the post office. Yes it's a pain in the a_)*(&_(*  to have to do business that way, but if the money isn't in the bank it's a lot harder for anybody to steal it.

At some point we may not be able to be a vendor at guns shows, and it might be impossible to do business over the internet, but we will cross that bridge when we come to it.

In the mean time, GET PREPARED. That includes spiritually.

SAINT ANTHONY of PADUA Doctor of the Church and Miracle-Worker (1195-1231) Born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1195, Fernando de Bouillon was of a noble family related to the famous Godefroy de Bouillon, founder and first sovereign of the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem, who at the close of the Crusade of 1099 had refused to wear a crown, there where Christ had worn one of thorns. Favored by nature and grace, Fernand resolved at the age of fifteen to leave the world and consecrate himself to God in the Order of Canons Regular of Saint Augustine. No flattery, threat or caress of his relatives could persuade him to leave that holy refuge. He asked to be transferred to another convent to avoid the family's solicitations, and was sent to Coimbra. Still young, his sanctity became evident through miracles; he cured a poor religious whom the devil was obsessing, by covering him with his cloak. When this young monk decided, after witnessing the return of the martyred remains of five Franciscans who had gone to Africa, to join that Order so favored with the graces of martyrdom, the Augustinians were desolate but could not prevent his departure, for Saint Francis himself appeared to him in a vision in July 1220, and commanded him to leave. He was then sent by the Franciscans to Africa, but two years later was obliged to return to Italy because of sickness; thus he was deprived of the martyr's crown he would have been happy to receive. In 1222 Anthony, as he was now called, went with other Brothers and some Dominican friars to be ordained at Forli. There Fra Antonio rose under obedience to preach for the first time to the religious, and took for his theme the text of Saint Paul: Christ chose for our sake to become obedient unto death. As the discourse proceeded, "the Hammer of Heretics," "the Ark of the Testament," "the eldest son of Saint Francis," stood revealed in all his sanctity, learning, and eloquence before his rapt and astonished brethren. He had been serving in the humblest offices of his community; now he was summoned to emerge from this obscurity. And then for nine years France, Italy, and Sicily heard his voice and saw his miracles, whose numbers can scarcely be counted. A crowd to which he was preaching outdoors one day, when the church was too small to hold all who came to hear him, amidst thunder and lightning felt not one drop of water fall upon them, while all around them the rain poured down. And men's hearts turned to God. We may wonder why we always see Saint Anthony with the Child Jesus in his arms. The account of this heavenly visitation was told only after his death, at the official process concerning his virtues and miracles. It was narrated by the man who witnessed the marvel in question; the Saint himself had never spoken of it. Saint Anthony was in the region of Limoges in France, and was offered hospitality, rest and silence by this businessman of the region, in his country manor. He was given a room apart, to permit him to pray in peace; but during the night his host looked toward his lighted window and saw in the brilliance a little Infant of marvelous beauty in the arms of the Saint, with His own around the Friar's neck. The witness trembled at the sight, and in the morning Saint Anthony, to whom it had been revealed that his host had seen the visitation, called him and enjoined him not to tell it as long as he was alive. The town near Limoges where this occurred remains unknown; the original account of the inquiry does not name it, but says that the man in question narrated it, with tears, after Saint Anthony's death. After a number of years of teaching of theology, unceasing preaching and writing, Saint Anthony, whose health was never strong, was spending a short time of retreat in a hermitage near Padua. He was overcome one day with a sudden weakness, which prevented him from walking. It progressed so rapidly that it was evident his last days had arrived. He died at the age of thirty-six, after ten years with the Canons Regular and eleven with the Friars Minor, on June 13, 1231. The voices of children were heard crying in the streets of Padua, "Our father, Saint Anthony, is dead." The following year, the church bells of Lisbon rang without ringers, while in Rome one of its sons was inscribed among the Saints of God. Reflection. Let us love to pray and labor unseen, and cherish in the secret of our hearts the graces of God and the growth of our immortal souls. Like Saint Anthony, let us attend to this first of all and leave the rest to God. Miracles and Traditions of St Anthony  The reason for invoking St. Anthony’s help in finding lost or stolen things is traced back to an incident in his own life. As the story goes, Anthony had a book of psalms that was very important to him. Besides the value of any book before the invention of printing, the psalter had the notes and comments he had made to use in teaching students in his Franciscan Order. A novice who had already grown tired of living religious life decided to depart the community. Besides going AWOL he also took Anthony’s psalter! Upon realizing his psalter was missing, Anthony prayed it would be found or returned to him. And after his prayer the thieving novice was moved to return the psalter to Anthony and to return to the Order, which accepted him back. Legend has embroidered this story a bit. It has the novice stopped in his flight by a horrible devil, brandishing an ax and threatening to trample him underfoot if he did not immediately return the book. Obviously a devil would hardly command anyone to do something good. But the core of the story would seem to be true. And the stolen book is said to be preserved in the Franciscan friary in Bologna. In any event, shortly after his death people began praying through Anthony to find or recover lost and stolen articles. And the Responsory of St. Anthony composed by his contemporary, Julian of Spires, O.F.M., proclaims, “The sea obeys and fetters break/And lifeless limbs thou dost restore/While treasures lost are found again/When young or old thine aid implore.” St. Anthony Bread is a term used for offerings made in thanksgiving to God for blessings received through the prayers of St. Anthony. Sometimes the alms are given for the education of priests. In some places parents also make a gift for the poor after placing a newborn child under the protection of St. Anthony. It is a practice in some churches to bless small loaves of bread on the feast of St. Anthony and give them to those who want them. Different legends or stories account for the donation of what is called St. Anthony Bread. By at least one account it goes back to 1263, when it is said a child drowned near the Basilica of St. Anthony which was still being built. His mother promised that if the child was restored to her she would give for the poor an amount of corn equal to the child’s weight. Her prayer and promise were rewarded with the boy’s return to life. Another reason for the practice is traced back to Louise Bouffier, a shopkeeper inToulon,France. A locksmith was prepared to break open her shop door after no key would open it. Bouffier asked the locksmith to try his keys one more time after she prayed and promised to give bread to the poor in honor of St. Anthony if the door would open without force. The door then opened. After others received favors through the intercession of St. Anthony, they joined Louise Bouffier in founding the charity of St. Anthony Bread. -

TSA Officials Agree to Training Program for Police on Travelers’ First and Fourth Amendment Rights

RICHMOND, Va.— In a victory for the U.S. Constitution, officials with the Richmond International Airport (RIC) have required that all RIC law enforcement officers take part in a two-hour training course on the First and Fourth Amendment rights of passengers, guests and/or vendors. The required training, with materials for the course on travelers’ First and Fourth Amendment rights supplied by attorneys for The Rutherford Institute, was part of the settlement of a lawsuit filed on behalf of college student Aaron Tobey, who was arrested for engaging in a peaceful protest of the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) use of  whole-body imaging scanners and enhanced pat downs at RIC.

Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them tempted, and perished by the serpents. Neither do you murmur, as some of them murmured, and were destroyed by the destroyer. Now all these things happened to them in figure, and they are written for our correction, upon whom the ends of the world are come. Wherefore he that thinketh himself to stand, let him take heed lest he fall. Let no temptation take hold on you, but such as is human: and God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that which you are able but will make also with temptation issue that you may be able to bear it.

Can we sin by thought and desire?

Yes, if we desire evil and forbidden things, or voluntarily think of them with pleasure, for God prohibits not only evil deeds, but evil thoughts and desires inregard to our neighbor's wife or goods. (Exod. XX. 17.) Christ says, (Matt. V. 28.) that he who looks upon a woman with evil desire, has already committed adultery. But wicked thoughts and imagination are sinful only when a person consents to, or entertains them deliberately. They become, however, an occasion of gaining merit, if we earnestly strive against them. For this reason God sometimes permits even the just to be tempted by them.

What is meant by tempting God?

Demanding presumptuously a mark or sign of divine omnipotence, goodness or justice. This sin is committed when without cause we desire that articles of faith should be demonstrated and confirmed by a new miracle; when we throw ourselves needlessly into danger of body or soul expecting God to deliver us; when in dangerous illness the ordinary and, natural remedies are rejected, and God's immediate assistance expected.

Is it a great sin to murmur against God?

That it is such may be learned from the punishment which God inflicted on the murmuring Israelites; for besides Kore, Dathan, and Abiron whom the earth devoured, many thousands of them were consumed by fire; and yet these had not murmured against God directly, but only against Moses and Aaron whom God had placed over them as their leaders. From this it is seen that God looks upon murmuring against spiritual and civil authority, instituted by Him, as murmuring against Himself. Hence Moses said to the Israelites: Your. murmuring is not against us, but against the Lord. (Exod. XVI. 8.)

ASPIRATION Purify my heart, I beseech. Thee; O Lord, from all evil thoughts and desires. Let it never enter my mind to tempt Thee, or to be dissatisfied with Thy fatherly dispensations. Suffer me not to be tempted beyond my strength, but grant me so much fortitude, that I may overcome all temptations, and even derive benefit from them for my soul's salvation.

GOSPEL (Luke XIX. 41-47.) At that time, when Jesus drew near Jerusalem, seeing the city, he wept over it, saying: If thou also hadst known, and that in this thy day, the things that are to thy peace: but now they are hidden from thy eyes. For the days shall come upon thee, and thy enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and straiten thee on every side, and beat thee flat to the ground, and thy children who are in thee: and they shall not leave in thee a stone upon a stone, because thou hast not known the time of thy visitation. And entering into the temple, he began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought, saying to them: It is written, My house is the house of, prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves. And he was teaching daily in the temple.

Why did our Saviour weep over the city of Jerusalem?

Because of the ingratitude and obduracy of its inhabitants who would not receive Him as their Redeemer, and who through impenitence were hastening to destruction.

When was the time of visitation?

The period in which God sent them one prophet after another who urged them to penance, and whom they persecuted, stoned, and killed. (Matt. XXIII. 34.) It was especially the time of Christ's ministry, when He so often announced His salutary doctrine in the temple of Jersualem, confirmed it by miracles, proving Himself to be the Messiah, the Saviour of the world, but was despised and rejected by this hardened and impenitent city.

Who are prefigured by this hardened and impenitent city?

The hard-hearted, unrepenting sinners who will not recognize the time of God's visitation, in which He urges them by the mouth of His preachers, confessors, and superiors, and by inward inspiration to reform their lives and seek the salvation of their soul, but who give no ear to these admonitions, and defer conversion to the end of their lives. Their end will be like to that of this impious city; then the enemy, that is, the evil spirit, will surround their soul, tempt, terrify, and drag it into the abyss of ruin. Oh, how foolish it is to squander so lightly, the time of grace, the days of salvation! Oh, how would the damned do penance, could they but return to earth! Oh, how industriously would they employ the time to save their soul! Use, then, my dear Christian, the time of grace which God designs for you, and which, when it is run out or carelessly thrown away, will not be lengthened for a moment.

Will God conceal from the wicked that which serves for their salvation?

No; but while they are running after the pleasures of this life, as St. Gregory says, they see not the misfortunes treading in their footsteps, and as consideration of the future makes them uncomfortable in the midst of their worldly pleasures, they remove the terrible thought far from them, and thus run with eyes blindfolded in the midst of their pleasure into eternal flames. Not God, but they themselves hide the knowledge of all that is for their peace, and thus they perish.

ASPIRATION. I beseech Thee, O Lord, who didst weep over the city of Jerusalem, because it knew not the time of its visitation, to enlighten my heart, that I may know and profit by the season of grace.

THE DESTRUCTION OF THE CITY AND TEMPLE OF JERUSALEM

Has our divine Savior's prophecy concerning, the city of Jerusalem been fulfilled?

Yes, and in the most terrible manner. The Jews, oppressed by the Romans their cruel masters, revolted, killed many of their enemies, and drove them out of Jerusalem. Knowing well that this would not be permitted to pass unavenged, the Jews armed themselves for a desperate resistance. The Emperor Nero sent a powerful army under the command of Vespasian against the city of Jerusalem, which first captured the smaller fortresses of Judea, and then laid siege to the city. The want and misery of the inhabitants had already reached the highest pitch; for within the city ambitious men had caused conflicts; factions had been formed, daily fighting each other, and reddening the streets with blood, while the angry Romans stormed outside. Then a short time of respite was granted to the unfortunate Jews. The Emperor Nero was murdered at Rome in the year of our Lord 68; his successor Galba soon died, and the soldiers placed their beloved commander Vespasian upon the imperial throne. He then left Jerusalem with his army, but in the year he sent his son Titus with a new army to Judea, with orders to capture the city at any price, and to punish its inhabitants.

It was the time of Easter, and a multitude of Jews had assembled from all provinces of the land, when Titus appeared with his army before the gates of Jerusalem, and surrounded the city. The supply of food was soon exhausted, famine and pestilence came upon the city and raged terribly. The leader of the savage revolutionists, John of Gischala, caused the houses to be searched, and the remaining food to be torn from the starving, or to be forced from them by terrible tortures: To save themselves from this outrageous tyrant, the Jews took the leader of a band of robbers, named Simon, with his whole gang into the city. John and Simon with their followers now sought to annihilate each other. John took possession of the temple. Simon besieged him; blood was streaming in the temple and in the streets. Only when the battle-din of the Romans was heard from without, did the hostile factions unite, go to meet the enemy, and resist his attack. As the famine increased, many Jews secretly left the city to seek for herbs. But Titus captured them with his cavalry, and crucified those who were armed. Nearly five hundred men, and sometimes more, were every day crucified in sight of the city, so that there could not be found enough of crosses and places of execution; but even this terrible sight did not move the Jews to submission. Incited by their leaders to frenzy, they obstinately resisted, and Titus finding it impossible to take the city by storm, concluded to surround it by walls in order to starve the inhabitants. In three days his soldiers built a wall of about ten miles in circumference, and thus the Saviour's prediction was fulfilled: Thy enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and straiten thee on every side.

The famine in this unfortunate city now reached its most terrific height; the wretched inhabitants searched the very gutters for food, and ate the most disgusting things. A woman, ravenous from hunger, strangled her own child, roasted it, and ate half of it; the leaders smelling the horrible meal, forced a way into the house, and by terrible threats compelled the woman to show them what she had eaten; she handed them the remaining part of the roasted child, saying.: "Eat it, it is my child; I presume you are not more dainty than a woman, or more tender than a mother." Stricken with horror they rushed from the house. Death now carried away thousands daily, the streets and the houses were full of corpses: From the fourteenth of April when the siege commenced. to the first of July, there were counted one hundred and fifty-eight thousand dead bodies; six hundred thousand others were thrown over the walls into the trenches to save the city from infection. All who could flee, fled; some reached the camp of the Romans in safety; Titus spared the helpless, but all who fell into his hands armed, were crucified. Flight offered no better security. The Roman soldiers had learned that many Jews had swallowed, gold to secure it from the avarice of the robbers, and therefore the stomachs of many were cut open. Two thousand such corpses were found one morning in the camp of the Romans. The attempts of Titus to prevent this cruelty were unavailing. Finally, when misery had reached its height, Titus succeeded in carrying the fort, Antonia, and with his army forced a passage as far as the temple which had been held by John of Gischala with his famous band. Desirous of saving the temple, Titus offered the revolutionists free passage from it, but his proposition was rejected, and the most violent contest then raged; the Romans trying to enter the temple, and being continually repulsed, at last, one of the soldiers seized a firebrand, and threw it into one of the rooms attached to the temple. The flames in an instant caught the whole of the inner temple, and totally consumed it, so that this prediction of our Lord was also fulfilled. The Romans butchered all the inhabitants whom they met, and Titus having razed the ruins of the temple and city, ploughed it over, to indicate that this city was never to be rebuilt. During the siege one million one hundred thousand Jews lost their lives; ninety-seven thousand were sold as slaves, and the rest of the people dispersed over the whole earth.

Thus God punished the impenitent city and nation, over whose wretchedness the Saviour wept so bitterly, and thus was fulfilled the prediction made by Him long before.

What do we learn from this?

That as this prediction so also all other threats and promises of the Saviour will be fulfilled. The destruction of the city and temple of Jerusalem, the dispersion of the Jews, are historical facts which cannot be denied, and testify through all centuries to the truth of our Lord's word: Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. (Matt. XXIV. 35.)

USEFUL LESSONS CONCERNING DEATH-BED REPENTANCE

Can a sinner rely upon his being converted at the end of his life?

By no means, for this would be a sin against the mercy of God which is much the same as the sin against the Holy Ghost. "God," says St. Augustine, "generally so punishes such negligent sinners, that in the end they forget themselves, as in health they forgot Him." He says: They have turned their back to me, and not their face: and in the time of their affliction they will say: Arise, and deliver us! Where are the gods whom thou hast made thee? Let them arise and deliver thee in the time of thy affliction. (Jer. II. 27-28.) And although we have a consoling example in the case of the penitent thief, yet this, as St. Augustine says, is only one, that the sinner may not despair: and it is only one, so that the sinner may have no excuse for his temerity in putting off his repentance unto the end.

What may we hope of those who are converted at the close of life?

Everything that is good if they be truly converted, but this is a very rare thing, as St. Augustine says: "It cannot be asserted with any security, that he who repents at the end has forgiveness;" and St. Jerome writes: "Scarcely one out of thousands whose life was impious, will truly repent at death and obtain forgiveness of sin;" and St. Vincent Ferrer says, "For a man who has lived an impious life to die a good death is a greater miracle than the raising of the dead to life." We need not be surprised at this, for repentance at the end of life is extorted by the fear of death and the coming judgment. St. Augustine says, that it is not he who abandons sin, but sin abandons him, for he would not cease to offend God, if life were granted him. What can we expect from such a conversion?

When should we repent?

While we are in health, in possession of our senses and strength, for according to the words of St. Augustine, the repentance of the sick is a sickly repentance. As experience proves, man while ill is so tormented and bewildered by the pains of sickness and the fear of death, by remorse of conscience, and the temptations of the devil as well as by anxiety for those whom he leaves, that he can scarcely collect his thoughts, much less fit himself for true repentance. Since it is so hard for many to do penance while they are in health, and have nothing to prevent them from elevating their mind to God, how much more difficult will it be for them, when the body is weakened and tortured by the pains of sickness. It has been made known by many persons when convalescent, that they retained not the slightest recollection of anything which occurred during their illness, and although they confessed and received the last Sacraments, they did not remember it. If then you have committed a grievous sin, do not delay to be reconciled as soon as possible by contrition and a sacramental confession. Do not put off repentance from day to day, for thereby conversion becomes more difficult, so much so that without extraordinary grace from God, you cannot repent God does not give His grace to the presumptuous scoffer.
