Elk harvests declining

I would state a few comparisons in response to Idaho Department of Fish and Game's woes as printed Nov. 13 in the Lewiston Tribune.

My wild game processing plant has a large five-rail cooler for elk and a large five-rail cooler for deer.

Hunting season 2008 started with a loaded elk cooler (40-60 elk) and 60-70 deer out back. Long hours of cutting did not empty the refilling rails for six weeks.

Hunting season 2009 yielded only 60 percent compared to 2008 and in 2010 the numbers dropped another 20 percent.

Hunting season 2011 did not fill two rails of elk and only two rails of deer. From 2008 through 2011, wild game carcass numbers have dropped more than 60 percent.

My son has guided hunters on the South Fork, Middle Fork and Main Salmon River. In the last 15 years, he has witnessed the disappearance of elk in Chamberlain Basin and very depleted elk numbers on all main forks of the Salmon River hunting areas.

Hunters coming into the plant from Elk River and the Clearwater Drainage are not finding elk and most hear wolves howling at night.

It would seem the reason license sales are down is because there is no game left to hunt. I feel that Fish and Game and government have nobody to blame but themselves.
I hope the Lewiston Tribune's Nov. 28 front-page doesn't prove to be Washington's trophy elk demise before some young hunters get to harvest one.

The introduction of the Alaska Timber Wolk aka Canadian Gray Wolf, a non indiginous species to the States was a fraud funded with stolen money according to this video. The fraud is ongoing. The elk herds are about gone.

According to the Reno Gazette Journal on 3 December "Nevada wildlife commissioners are scheduled today to discuss the possibility of adopting a regulation, at least temporarily, that would change the gray wolf's official status from a protected game animal to an unprotected one -- the same as coyotes and skunks, which can be shot at any time."

Enter the federal interloper of the week. Bob Williams, Nevada supervisor of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service arguing that "It's basically saying if you see a wolf, you can shoot it," he said. "It's the wrong message. It's just the wrong thing to do." "There will be an occasional wolf that comes into Nevada, and we shouldn't be afraid of them".

Oh, really? There are three very alarming aspects to this report that must not go unchallenged.

First, here we have an audacious federal field-marshal telling elected state officials that he considers his and his agencies' federal moral values superior to state values, so therefore what the US Constitution clearly authorizes the state to regulate is, according to this federal official, "wrong". Whether we quote the enviable and successful Constitutional jurisdiction of state governments over all wildlife within their borders that has served this country well for over 200 years; whether we consult all the Treaties and laws usurping this state authority (Migratory Birds, Marine Mammal "Protection" i.e. non-management, Federal land purchase, "Law" of the Sea, Wetland "Protection" i.e. private property seizure, "Native" species & ecosystem "Restoration"; and whether we review all the federal agencies' brazenly written "regulations" and "rules (for the little they are worth legally) like Wilderness, Roadless, Access, Closures, Permits, Non-Management, Non-Use, redefining "navigable" waters, specious assertions about pollution and manufactured Armageddon fantasies like global warming, global cooling, desertification, Marine Sanctuaries, and myriad "Special" Regulations on everything from gun possession, logging, and grazing to class requirements for citizens to use public land: nowhere does the word "WRONG" appear.

"Wrong" as expressed here is mere tyrannical humbuggery. It simply expresses the personal preferences of federal overseers (over not only over our state government but thereby over us as well). I leave it to the reader to conclude their motives that truthfully have little or nothing to do with wildlife or the "pursuit of Happiness" of the residents of Nevada.

This is merely the moral posturing of those currently in power at the federal level. This sort of intimidation is akin to Nazi thugs telling some German Gauleiter, or some Soviet Commissar telling some occupied-country "leader" that something he is doing is "wrong". As such this USFWS spokesman should have been sent packing by the state and his employing federal agency cautioned that state residents do not pay federal taxes to enable federal agencies and their employees to undercut or influence state Constitutional authority based on their own federal unconstitutional agendas. When such things are let "stand" they are merely precedents for further tyranny.

Imagine a UN official telling our federal government in Washington that our private property policies or our gun rights are "wrong". While the current federal managers would likely shrug, any federal government worth its salt that did not send the UN official packing and tell the UN to keep its nose out of the US tent should not be tolerated.

Secondly, whether or not any state or local community has any or some certain abundance of wolves is constitutionally a state matter under state authority. The federal claim in this area is based on a perversion of questionable federal law to begin with. Not only has the federal government falsely claimed the abundant-worldwide wolf to be an Endangered Species, the federal Endangered Species Act that was passed to "save" whales and eagles and flies has been perverted to authorizing the fantastic and non-scientific "restoration" of "native" ecosystems and species. This immeasurable and indefinable purpose is an unlimited claim by federal officials to claim unlimited budgets and staffs as well as implying and attempting to secure authority over all remaining private property and human activities not already under the federal heel of the EPA, federal land owners, and the associated non-government-organizations that own or ease properties in the millions of acres worth many, many billions of dollars.

Again, any federal officials or federal agency attempting to "steer" state government exercise of state Constitutional authority over any wildlife not under federal jurisdiction should not be tolerated. In fact, the most "Just" (as in rightful or appropriate) regulation of animals such as wolves or other deadly (to man) animals like cougars, grizzly bears, black bears, and coyotes should be based first and foremost on the desires of local communities like towns, cities, townships, and Counties. This is called the principle of subsidiarity or government that is based at the lowest level and is therefore the best for all humans and their "unalienable rights".

The most important responsibility of governments is the protection of human life. Nothing is further from this responsibility than for government to unjustly endanger human lives for any reason other than to save more human lives.

Third and last, any federal official that burbles that ""There will be an occasional wolf that comes into Nevada, and we shouldn't be afraid of them" is a liar that should be fired on the spot! If the federal employer pushes that line, they and their employees should be barred from the state as a self-defined danger to the "peace and tranquility" of the state.

Current newspapers from Georgia and Alaska to Saskatchewan, Kazakhstan, and Russia detail the death and severe injury of numerous humans, especially children, women and unarmed men. History books, Will Graves' "Wolves in Russia", Stanley Young's "Wolves in North America", newspaper archives, and numberless reports from the likes of John James Audubon to Leo Tolstoy are replete with account after account of wolves killing and maiming humans for "reasons" too numerous to mention here.

Any "expert" or "scientist" or "naturalist" or "bureaucrat" or town drunk saying that "we shouldn't be afraid of them" (i.e. wolves) is giving scandal (i.e. deceiving others to commit a deadly error in judgment) to those that mistakenly and naively believe them. If only one child or one woman hiker or one dog-walker dies as a result of believing this lie, the blame belongs on such liar and any sponsoring organization/employer spreading such a lie..

Whatever way this blame for the inevitable human deaths is treated by our currently unpredictable courts, tolerating federal intervention into state intentions to avoid this unavoidable danger is laudable and the federal intentions to the contrary deserve both condemnation and defeat.

Human deaths are increasingly inevitable as wolves spread, big game herds are reduced, and most especially as burgeoning wolf populations become familiarized with or habituated to human habitations and human activities.

Reasons are too numerous to mention here but everything from rabies, to need for food for pups, to winter hunger, and the 30 or more diseases and infections transmitted by wolves will magnify the inevitable human encounters from hunters to gardeners to a child taking out the garbage in the evening. There will be a rash of attacks soon and then there will be the steady incidence of sporadic attacks with periodic outbreaks of sustained attacks just as reported down through the ages of in places like India, Kazakhstan, Russia, Georgia and other wolf-havens today.

Why the same urban people that lock up their kids and call the police when some Doberman or Staffordshire terrier runs down the street believe this lie about not fearing a bigger dog (i.e. a "wolf" that is the same species as dogs and coyotes) that has never been domesticated and that can be desperately hungry, never gotten "shots", and routinely kills animal many times bigger for both food and "fun" (to be anthropomorphic) is beyond comprehension.

Go get 'em Nevada. We are truly "all Nevadans" with a stake in your bold confrontation on behalf of liberty.

So there you have at least 12 actual or likely law violations associated with the introduction, protection, and spread of wolves in the Lower 48 states. I accuse federal bureaucrats, state bureaucrats, non-governmental organizations, Washington lobbyists, and even myself. It was a sordid affair and it has only grown worse. The “losers” thus far are ranchers, hunters, dog owners, rural residents (especially parents, children, and the elderly), local and state governments, and American Constitutional government. The “winners”, although many have gone onto higher salaries and more power, have yet to be determined. When those of us that have been “losers” to date turn this government excess train around we will be the “winners” because we will know where apathy led us and we will never let this happen again.

At a recent Idaho Fish & Game meeting in Kellogg Idaho, Commissioners listened to comments by informed Hunters, and at the end of the public comments, arrogance created a swell of anger. Scott Rockholm of Save Western Wildlife Inc. delivered a rebuttal to the commission at the end of the meeting. You could feel the anger building in the room, stemming from the marginalization of hunters, and citizens concerned with saving our ungulate populations from the devastating effects from predation of the illegally introduced Canadian Gray Wolf.

All American Patriot (AAP): Drs. Geist and Kritsky, Messrs. Fanning, Hoppe, Graves, and Beers, welcome to the AAP roundtable. Gentlemen, we’ve assembled to talk about the re-introduction of the wolf into Yellowstone, but first, there are many who take issue with the term “re-introduction” [Editors note: see the thorough treatment of this issue in the accompanying articles authored by Lynn Sutte .] Why is that?


FANNING: It’s simple. There is no “re-introduction” because the wolf introduced into Yellowstone Park is not native to this geography and had never naturally been here to begin with. The Gray wolf is ironically enough, a human introduced invasive species. You see, the original wolf inhabiting the geography of the Park was a much smaller animal, the Rocky Mountain wolf or Canis lupus irremotus. The Canadian Gray Timber wolf, Canis lupus occidentalis, is also known as the Alaskan Tundra Wolf. It was introduced at significant cost to the U.S. taxpayer and is a super size predator with a rapacious appetite and lust for wanton killing – killing far in excess the number of ungulates (hoofed animals: deer, antelope, elk) claimed by authorities. There are hundreds of cases of man monkeying around with the balance of nature and screwing things up. One of the best examples is the introduction of the Mongoose into the Hawaiian Islands as a means for dealing with a huge and troublesome rat population. Those conscientious biologists however neglected to realize that the rat is a nocturnal animal while the Mongoose preys during the day. Their paths simply never cross, so today Hawaii not only still has its rats, but it has 100s of thousands of Mongooses creating mayhem with rare ground nesting birds and other native species. This is just one example of the law of unintended consequences in dealing with wildlife. The unintended consequence to the Rocky Mountain States of the non native Gray wolf is much, much more serious and not simply the consequence of a couple thousand extra wolves roving the countryside, but rather a much greater problem caused by the level of depredation of native species – Elk and deer, than originally claimed. It’s all about wolf “densities” and who gets to control those densities. Federal and state biologists have failed colossally in their claims every step of the way and the impact is economically huge.

Wolf parasite: A Second Air That Kills

Canadian wolves were illegally introduced into the United States infected with a parasite that is lethal to humans.

Those parties responsible for this knew this parasite readily infects and kills humans. Federal and state agencies have known about this parasite for over 50 years and remained silent to the danger.


The Montana Constitution guarantees for the people the right to a healthy environment. This right has been blatantly ignored by federal and state agencies. It has become incumbent upon the citizens of the state of Montana to demand accountability from all governmental agencies for knowingly putting its citizen’s lives in imminent peril.

Vermiculite and asbestosis are two words that have brought tragedy into the lives of Lincoln county residents. It has proven to be an air that kills. With full knowledge of deadly consequences, federal and state agencies, along with a host of environmental groups, have brought a parasitic killer into our state; they have brought us all a second air that kills.

Without authorization from Congress, Canadian wolves were introduced into Montana and elsewhere. $60,000,000 in United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) funds were misappropriated for this purpose. They knew the wolves carried a highly contagious parasite that infects both humans and domestic animals. It never existed in the lower 48 states prior to this illegal introduction.

“With money in hand, they went up to Canada, got the wolves and brought them down to Yellowstone. Everybody said: “oh, there are wolves in Yellowstone!” Boom! They’re being released and they’re being acclimated. Once they were there, Congress couldn’t do anything about it. It was too late. Congressmen did not want to anger those powerful environmental groups. So there was never any follow-up.” Jim Beers, retired USFWS, Wildlife Biologist, and whistle blower, was forced to retire early due to his efforts to bring this to public scrutiny.

Parasites depend on other animals, or host, to reproduce. This usually involves several animals. It is a circular cycle that ensures the survival of the parasite, and many times causes the death of the host.

The life cycle of this parasite includes all canines, deer, elk and sheep, both wild and domestic. Infected wolf scat contains millions of eggs. These eggs can remain alive for long periods of time in the scat and are scatted by wind or disturbance. Deer and elk eat egg infected grass or shrubs; they become a carrier. A wolf kills an infected deer or elk, it becomes infected, and the life cycle of this parasite is complete. Over 60% of the wolves tested in our area are infected with this parasite. Some reports state that 40% of the deer and elk population are carriers.

Anyone that is involved in dressing and processing of wild game to those that walk through infected grass or shrubs can bring the eggs back to their homes and families. Wives that handle the clothes, children that play on the floor, dogs that are handled are then exposed to this parasite. It can infect the human body through our mouths or by breathing the eggs into our lungs.
The CDC, federal and state wildlife agencies have known about this parasite for over half a century and knew of the agonizing deaths it causes in humans. It can remain undetected in our bodies for 10 – 20 years. They remained silent, even in the face of opening a wolf hunting season.

Dr. Delane C. Kritsky, Professor emeritus, from Idaho State University, is one researcher that has spent decades studying this parasite. He asked the USFWS, state agencies and wolf advocacy groups, “Who will pay for the health bills and funeral expenses for those who will ultimately become infected as a result of wolf introductions into Idaho, Montana and Wyoming?” He further stated “The only way that the parasite will be eliminated from our area is the elimination of the wolf.”

Senator’s Curtiss and Hinkle were the first elected officials to bring this to public attention. Since this information has started to surface, some have tried to twist the facts, inferring that those who dare to make this information public are conspiracy theorists; wolf haters. There is a world of difference between fact and fiction. In this case, it is the difference between life and death. .

There are solutions. The first step is education and awareness of the enormity of the problem. Only then, will the people be willing to take the steps necessary to bring the perpetrators to accountability and implement real measures that will remove this killer from our state and lives. Political science created this crisis, science can solve it.

Dear Representative Vincent and members of the Council,

I have reviewed the documents before this Council on the spread of Hydatid Disease via the wolf. In addition to this, I have reviewed information from the Center of Disease Control (CDC) and studies by renowned wildlife biologist Dr. Valerius Geist, Professor Emeritus of Environmental Science at the University of Calgary. You have seen his comments in an email dated February 28, 2010 titled, “EQC and wolves/wolf diseases”.

You have information indicating that almost two-thirds of the wolves in Montana are carriers of the Hydatid Tapeworm and are contaminating our landscape with the eggs of this worm. We have a much milder climate in Montana than in the Far North and it appears this will contribute to a more prevalent spread of the disease. You have read Dr. Geists comments on how easily humans can come in contact with the eggs through pets and wildlife where deer or elk are intermediate hosts contributing to the spread of the disease. The seriousness of this contamination of the landscape can not be understated or denied.

In a fact sheet published by the CDC on Echinococossis it is stated, in part, that a person can become infected “by directly ingesting food items contaminated with stool (or eggs) from foxes, coyotes (wolves). This might include grass, herbs, greens, or berries gathered in fields.” Considering the number of wolves in western Montana, to what extent is the probability of wild berries being contaminated?

I have a copy of a letter written to Ed Bangs, Wolf Specialist with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) dated October 3, 1993 from Will N. Graves (Gray Wolf EIS). In that letter, Mr. Graves pointed out the fact that wolves of the north were Hydatid carriers and should not be introduced into the United States by the USFWS. This dated letter was prior to the introduction program; therefore, was the warning ignored or disregarded by Mr. Bangs?

The Montana Constitution in Article IX, Section 1 guarantees every Montanan the unalienable right to a clean and healthy environment; that the legislature will administer and enforce this duty; and that “the legislature shall provide adequate remedies for the protection of the environmental life support system from degradation and provide adequate remedies to prevent unreasonable depletion and degradation of natural resources.”
The expansion of the wolf population enhanced by foreign wolves is virtually wiping out western Montana’s big game herds. I know that from personal observations and those of other outdoorsmen.

I would point out that in a US Supreme Court case; Printz v. United States, 95-1503; the Court referred to a previous case; New York v. United States, 505 U.S. 144 (1992); and they stated in Printz, “The Federal government”, we held, “may not compel the States to enact or administer a federal regulatory program”, Id., at188. This begs the question, in my mind; did the USFWS have the authority to contaminate our environment with diseased wolves?
Where do we go from here? I believe there are some options.

First would be to request that the Attorney General of Montana fully investigate whether Mr. Bangs and the USFWS knew of the potential of bringing diseased wolves from a foreign country into the State. If this is found to be true, the State should sue USFWS for violating our Constitutional guarantee to a clean and healthful environment.

Second, we should immediately begin to eradicate the source of the problem. Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP) should make available an unlimited number of wolf tags and open the season year round. They should educate all hunters on the potential hazard of handling a wolf (or coyote). The funds from the wolf tags should be divided up and all those who harvest a wolf at the end of each calendar year will receive a payment for each wolf harvested. Yes, it is called a bounty. Thirdly, due to deer and elk being intermediate hosts of the disease, FWP should immediately enforce the prohibition on the feeding of ungulates. Illegal feeding concentrates deer and elk creating a hazard for everyone. Other than that, what other sound options are there to hold the spread of this disease in check?

Worms in the clothing of Wolves. Your life in danger?

The articles here describe serious and dangerous crimes perpetrated by people in power.
