By Anna Von Reitz
Today, a senior government bureaucrat shook my hand and said, "You saved the country." And he shook my hand like he really meant it.
I know I probably looked stunned, with that deer-in-the-headlights look, startled, and maybe a bit perplexed. I mentally stepped aside and let the compliment land where it belongs --- on all of you and on all the Americans who came before, who didn't forget who they were and didn't give up.
No matter what.
So now, take a moment, breathe, realize that a major milestone has been met. The bureaucrats are awake now. Really awake. Like cats watching a mouse hole. And we are not "the mice" anymore.
After all these years of threats and insults, after all the name-calling and labels and fear, after a century and a half of "ducking and running", we are being recognized as free men and women again, not crazies, not fools.
And when the top ranks recognize us, and say (out loud) that we "saved the country" ---the low men on the totem pole aren't far behind.
