Granna Bytes: Finally, Stonehenge Makes Sense

One of the odd things about Stonehenge is the way the wind sounds as it wraps around the ancient stones, the odd sensations that crawl up your spine, the odd sense of a song that is lingering just outside the range of hearing, the chill even on a summer day, the surprising effort it takes to walk the distance around the stones.  It's all so much larger than it appears on television and in movies. 

Like millions of other people I have contemplated Stonehenge and other megaliths and wondered --- what went on here?  Nothing I ever heard came close to what I instinctively sensed about the monument.  

Sure, the sun rises at Solstice between these two stones ---but that's not all.  That's not even a major part of it.  

Here, finally, is an explanation that feels right, that makes sense, that fills in the vacant spaces and connects the dots:
