They have now started their own new order religion, heaping to themselves teachers having itching ears, so as to believe fables, rather than the truth. I am paraphrasing. To further clarify, none of us who believe in the 20 centuries on teachings of the universal Church left the Church by continuing to believe those truths after the second Vatican Council in 1963 and 64. At that point gradually the hierarchy of the Catholic Church had abandoned the faithful and took over the buildings and the offices for their own ends. Don't tell me otherwise, because I lived through it. I will tell you why some time when I have lots more time than I do right now.Paul Stramerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03988514858739600958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8621915200928222891.post-66528773762626151722016-07-26T12:01:12.940-06:002016-07-26T12:01:12.940-06:00So what did Christ mean when he said to Peter, &qu...So what did Christ mean when he said to Peter, "I have prayed for thee Peter that thy faith fail not" or when he said "Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I shall build my Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it, and I give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth, shall be loosed in heaven."?Paul Stramerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03988514858739600958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8621915200928222891.post-28808419691369361332016-07-26T11:50:52.047-06:002016-07-26T11:50:52.047-06:00What exactly does amen mean?
Answer
Amen is a wor...What exactly does amen mean?
Answer

Amen is a word that came to English from Latin, which got it from Greek, which got it from Aramaic, which got it from Hebrew (technically, Aramaic may have had it anyway, before it became the standard language of the Jewish people a few centuries before the time of Christ).

It is difficult to translate this word directly, which is often a reason that words are borrowed from other languages (i.e., if there’s no direct way to translate this foreign word, just borrow it).

The specific Hebrew word amen (’amen ) appears to be derived from a related verb--’aman , which means "he confirmed, supported, or upheld." This verb is also associated with the Hebrew word for truth (’emet ), which carries the idea of certainty or dependability (i.e., that which is true is that which is certain or dependable).

’Amen itself is an interjection used to agree with, affirm, approve, or emphasize something else that has been said. Thus when Jesus begins certain sayings by declaring "Amen, amen, I say to you . . . " various Bible translations often render the "amen, amen" different ways. Because of the word’s association with the Hebrew terms for truth, the double amen is sometimes rendered "truly, truly" or "verily, verily." Because of its association with the Hebrew terms for confirmation or dependability, one might also translate it "certainly, certainly" or "most assuredly."

When one says "amen" in response to a prayer, it serves as an affirmation of agreement with the content of the prayer (cf. 1 Cor 14:16)—in which case it is sometimes translated "So be it" (cf. CCC 2856)—or as an expression of faith that God will hear and act on the prayer.

Bottom line: Amen is an interjection associated with the Hebrew words for truth and dependability, it conveys the idea of agreement or emphasis, and its meaning can be translated different ways depending on the context.Paul Stramerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03988514858739600958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8621915200928222891.post-20008682003834892392016-07-19T10:55:09.917-06:002016-07-19T10:55:09.917-06:00Here is a question to you all. Who's St. Agustine, St. Jerome? Who made them Saints? The Catholic Pontiff who sits down on his throne just like me in the rest room.
Is the Creator managing a damage control situation from His Throne? If and when you are awakened to the truth, you will hang your head in shame at buying anything presented in the name of religion. I for one truly appreciate what you have p...Paul...
I for one truly appreciate what you have posted above. I don't know if you wrote it or borrowed it, but nevertheless, it is very good and touches on a lot of areas that are virtually ignored by most. It seems from the responses, if they are representative of this country as a whole, that judgment IS forthcoming as not one of them seems to be written by a Christian. In all that you have ever written, I've seen nothing that indicates you are associated with Catholicism at all, and even here, you merely use quotes from St. Augustine, who lived before most of the decadence began. I'm with you...the Bible IS the word of God, and it is infallible. God did create the world and everything in it, and He knows how many he created that will be His, so there is no question as to who is called and who isn't. If it hasn't been foreordained that one is called, he won't be inclined to repent and turn to Him...simple as that. That's why what is said above adds up to salvation for some, but not for most. Some believe they choose God, but it's the other way around. We don't suddenly decide to "get right by God" on our own, He does it for us, and makes Himself so irresistible that we can't turn away, and don't want to. I especially liked the part about tempting God, which members of my own family have accused me of doing by resisting tyranny, and depending on His grace to prevail if it is His will, and instead taking the easy way out and "realizing" we can't beat "them". Once we have acquired truth, and as all knowledge comes from God, it would be disobedient to not use it so as to help my neighbor. Not enough room to expound further, but thanks for the post.

M Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03546295968732073073noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8621915200928222891.post-21847776226678126902016-07-17T19:22:34.973-06:002016-07-17T19:22:34.973-06:00Paul,

The Catholic Church seceded from the Christian Church in 755 AD. It is an Apostate church. The fruit of it proves which god it serves. Even the Christian Church as a lot of explaining to do.

Who sent us here and who/what is it that gives each of us or commission? That is a questing that each of us must ask and search out the answers for ourselves.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16684116057013529121noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8621915200928222891.post-60595008915276447592016-07-17T14:13:56.711-06:002016-07-17T14:13:56.711-06:00The Supreme Being is all powerful and entirely in ...The Supreme Being is all powerful and entirely in charge. The creation is not broken it's working just fine. The regions of matter exist to polish off imperfections in the individual spiritual entities. By grace we sense change coming and imagine we accomplish the task. We do nothing but out part in resolving imperfections. The Supreme Being does everything and knows what is best for all. We need the Supreme Being the Supreme Being doesn't need us. It's disrespectful to image we can call upon the Supreme Being to fulfill out ignorant understandings. The purpose of prayer is to request an amelioration for our suffering when we can not bare any more. Not to change the creation to suite ourselves. The worst think for anyone is to wallow in material and insipid indulgence. I consider my self a very spiritual person but I have had very negative experiences in religious organizations and will support none of them in any way. It is time to move away from religious doctrines since they have caused so much war and destruction in the world. I'm sure I'm not the only person that reds your web page that is not interested in religious views. I believe in a prime creator but I don't think Jesus or anyone else is going to save our collective a--sses. That is up to us individually and collectively. PLEASE look up Bill Donahue's many videos on youtube or www.hiddenmeanings.com, to find out what the bible really says. His videos certainly opened my eyes to truth. Just because we base our truth on an antiquated "belief system" is no reason to continue to do so. Keep up the good work on the: political, money, and government issues but some of us are not interested in religious views that you will find out from Bill D. that don't hold water.Minnie Kayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11005171512123127785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8621915200928222891.post-47126986728352612732016-07-17T12:00:05.501-06:002016-07-17T12:00:05.501-06:00Part of the conspiracy to disgrace, and defile The...Part of the conspiracy to disgrace, and defile The LORD, was the change from ending a prayer with: "and so it is, or ...and so shall it be." The use of amen, at the end of a prayer is like the evil ones coordinating a "____ lives matter," public gathering, in front of a giant phallic symbol, like the Washington monument. This was done on Sat. 7-7-16 (777...again?) That is a gross and disgusting slap in the face to all Christians and Christianity, as a hole. The use of amen, is an homage to amen ra, the Egyptian sun god, which leads us right back to the worship of horace, isis and osiris. Gee the spell checker wants them all capitalized...so what. GOD Bless you and your entire team and followers. The truth will set us free, but only if we are willing to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous brainwashed, victim's narrow views of our collective reality. Real change can only happen, when we believe that it can. Please stop betting against your own success, and making bets that you don't want to win. The obligation that you incur once you take a concrete position on any issue, is the need to have to defend it. This programmed behavior really does get in the way of true progress, as well as needlessly using up resources that can be better applied toward real, community growth.Hypnotixxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07231540789871664866noreply@blogger.com
