The Existential Problem

By Anna Von Reitz

People often ask me --- how did all this get started?

My mind reels.  Adam and Eve, I think gloomily.  But it is nothing so poetic.

It's just the facts of our life cycle.  It takes a long time to produce a fully functioning, educated, morally and emotionally sound, intellectually complete man or woman, and a lot of hard work, time, money, and effort to produce this result.

Then, there are those who --- one way or another --- are hurt, damaged, unable to function and support themselves.  They need care, therapy, assistance of all kinds, too.

Finally, we have the seniors, who after working all their lives, are suffering the pains and problems of old age.  Eventually, if we live long enough, we all need help just to get out of bed and eat and get to the bathroom and do our laundry and all the most mundane things.

This is the reality.  The 'burden" of the young, the old, the sick, the crippled, the mentally ill, the addicted, and everyone else who simply cannot or will not contribute, is all resting on those of us who are able to work and care and think and contribute, and that slice of the population -- about 35% of us --- has to pay for and carry all the rest.

That is the existential problem.

This is what the Church has struggled with for centuries.  How do you get people to do the right thing?

Left to themselves, people are mostly too selfish to provide enough money to feed and clothe and care for and educate orphaned children and abandoned elderly, too busy working for their own benefit and survival to take on the extra load of the sick and mentally ill, the victims of accident and those who have incapacitated themselves with drugs and other addictions.

Above and beyond this reality, there is the constant need to build and maintain infrastructure --- roads and communications and ports and all the rest of the physical structure and service delivery systems that make life pleasant and business possible.

So -- how to take care of people who need help, which is the duty of any decent culture, while at the same time building, expanding, and maintaining infrastructure and service systems?

It's a tall order.

For centuries the Church attempted to do this via voluntary collections and donations and "tithes" which are essentially taxes on parishioners, and also added in the volunteer work of the clergy and members of churches who contributed their time and labor and expertise for free.

But now it's time to rethink everything that has gone before.

The corporations of this world owe the people of this world, and it's payback time. The stellar operating feature of the Corporate Feudalism we have suffered is the amassing of gigantic Slush Funds that generate large amounts of profit and which allow for coercive control of commerce.

So, why not re-task these Slush Funds to earn money to pay for all the existential needs we have --- set the people free and let the corporations be the slaves?  Lift the burden off our shoulders and let the earnings of these already amassed Slush Funds go to new purposes?  Existential purposes.

Well Anna, This is usually where it gets dicey. In the past "the church" starts exerting more and more force and control.
And this is not the True Church.
i do not think voluntary contributions as in money nor time should be looked at as taxes.
Many of your essays seem to be missing something. i believe it to be that of God's Will.
Do you think that in reading your Bible that it is in God's will that it is payback time for we the people of this world and it will be in sums of money and Gold? Do you think it is His Will that corporations will now be our slaves?
Slush funds for the people? What kind of society can we imagine being created by this? All their existential needs taken care off?
How many people will work for this when everyone thinks they deserve payback?

  3. Yes It is Gods will for the enslaved "People" to be freed and paid back 100 fold , and our captors " The Corporations" to be cursed and enslaved, put to work building the infrastructure . All while they live amongst themselves in chain gangs, Including the Vatican and British Oligarchy. The Churches for the most part are prosperity corporations and must be fazed out and join the rest of the filth. Perhaps they can all repent and ask God for forgiveness. Not to be mean but water down their daily cup of gmo corn chowder in order for them to learn gratitude.

    1. The Bible says these people will be destroyed, as a withered branch into a fire.
The enslaved people of Israel, after being led away from their captors, how long did they spend in the desert?
Because they still would not listen!
We do not follow christ in anticipation of being served by satan and his followers. we follow Christ in anticipation of serving HIM!

    2. Also of note, or along with that, He did not release just those that were perfect, they were not. And yet He gave them every opportunity to change up to a point. His point, not ours.

  5. As Christ hung on the cross and just before he gave up the Ghost, he said, "Father forgive them for they know not what they do". Alot of people do what they do because they do not know who they are, do not see the big picture, and how they fit into that whole big picture. Poor lost souls wandering this planet until they find truth, meaning, purpose.

  6. Eliminating limited liability from all incorporated companies will make a difference when creating laws to support the existential issues. Capping all Government employees and management of Public enterprises like hospitals, energy, marketing boards etc would make a difference as well. Ontario's Hydro One CEO previously was paid 4.4million and the current one was at 2,275,000 and Hydro One has been ordered to reduce that to 1.5million and has complied. Other Executives are capped at 75% of the CEO. Politicians should not be allowed to give themselves raises and those salaries should also be capped. It wouldn't be such a tough job if the did what they promised thereby reducing the flack they get from constituents.

    1. Good point.

I remember when the first firestorm started with Elizabeth Clitheroe who was the top banana at Hydro just as they were splitting it up into Generation and Distribution as we have now. The were told to start preparing for privatization so the first thing they did was start handing out big exec salaries. She was around 2 million or so I think but that was an uproar I recall. All they could fathom about privatization is that everybody gets paid big, cushy salaries at ratepayer expense. Clitheroe is an Anglican pastor somewhere now, the public beating she took must have scared the fear of God into her!

Individual officers of the C suite in the companies need to be held accountable that they are operating in the capacity of their full commercial liability, which has scared the daylights out of enough of them to run for the exit. It does work, except on psychopaths apparently who are just stupidly incapable of calculating anything but their own self interest.
