New and Better Search Feature on Anna's Website

Who is Paul Stramer
From Paul Stramer

We now have two search engines that will search every word of Anna's website including all the PDF files for a word or combination of words.

The new search box is right near the top between Anna's picture and the picture of the flag.

The reason I did this is that the IXQuick search code has been relegated to times when the servers there are almost idle, and therefore doesn't give any results at times, especially during peak usage times of the day.

The disadvantage of the new one, is that the site could outgrow the limits for number of searches, and number of pages it will index, but if it does I will upgrade to the paid version down the road.
The only other issue is how often I can have it crawl the pages to update the index without getting into trouble with the server bandwidth limits, but I will cross both those bridges when we come to them.

Try the new one out, and let me know if you like it. Best way to use it, would be to open two windows with the home page at www.annavonreitz.com and use one as an anchor page and the other to search, because when you search it will open the results on the same page you are on, so you would have to use your back button to get back to the home page. Another tip is on the results page, if you right click on the link you want, and tell it to open in a new tab, or a new window that should help also.

Another tip is to learn how to use the FIND feature of your browser. Every browser has one. It will allow you to find any word on the one page you are on at the time. Usually the FIND feature is in the controls or settings. On Chrome it's the 3 little dots under the big X at the top right side of the page.

That feature will let you find any title of an article on the home page, that you searched for with the search boxes.  I hope between the two search boxes and the FIND feature you will be better able to navigate the website and find what you are looking for.

Give me some feedback on what you think of this improvement by email at pstramer@gmail.com

Thanks,

Paul Stramer

  1. Paul,

Thanks for all the work you do to keep Anna's site and info current and accessible.

On a slightly different concern, the template called docx used as doc #1 with the "Papering Up" documents is the one with a template that can be loaded with individual info, then placed in the other docs relative to the emancipation process. For me I cannot open the docx, and I wonder if it can be modified in another format like Word so it would be openable?
    Thanks,

  2. There is really nothing on the document that you have to change or include your personal info so I changed it to a PDF file http://annavonreitz.com/diagramoffraud.pdf

  3. Another option is to use Open Office. Free downloadable word processing program. I can usually open any .doc and .docx with the program open and then save it in .odt Some times I can copy and paste a PDF document and save it in Open Office. Adobe wants you to pay to use all but the most basic features.

Paul this is great. I think another great idea would be to include the corresponding number with her document when it opens up to read. I downloaded and printed each article on the Jural Assembly, but had to write the number on the top of each article. This would be helpful to refer people to the number of a specific article like 928.

    Peace

    1. Don't forget to check out "Export" It often will allow you to save in a different format as well even if you open in Open Office or the more preferred these days Libre Office.
