  1. I have known the author, Rich Scheben, for several years now, and have been to his off grid home many times. He is doing exactly as his book describes. You should read the book. It's not if, but when most of what he says will happen.
People who have not tried living off grid haven't got a clue that such a thing can be done or can be even enjoyable. My wife and I did this same thing while raising 8 children on a 20 acre place 5 miles out of Eureka, and even made our own power with hydro turbines, while homeschooling 8 children who are all very productive members of society, so the answer is YES it can be done and is a wonderful way to live. Get his book, and change your life. Get it at Amazon.com

  2. I hope & pray the author and his family & home have not been negatively impacted by the thousands of burning acres currently in Montana!

  3. Just smoke in the valley from the fires. So far his home is not threatened.

  4. We just bought an off-grid home (Aurora 10kw generator, solar panels) on some nicely wooded property, and will be making the move there soon.
