Persecution of good people by governments in history!

Sunday prayers for patriots.

Throughout history those in power seem to take an evil delight in persecuting God's good people.
"Power corrupts, and ablsoute power corrupts absolutely." (Lord Acton)

The Romans learned centuries ago that governments can't fight ideas with swords and clubs.

The only way to fight an idea is with another idea. The Romans learned this the hard way, with the loss of their entire empire.

How many people have chosen to rather die than worship false gods, like those in government, who are drunk with power and greed, and who consider themselves above the law?
How many times in the last 2000 years or so, have government agents, and rulers given people the choice of betraying their own countrymen, their religion, or their family, in exchange for their lives?

In the early days, those who were persecuted were the beneficiaries of many miracles, but in our day those miracles are not happening.

Why is that?  Is it because we are really not in the right place spritually? Is it because we have made ourselves unworthy? Is it because we are praying for the wrong things?
Is it because we are using Freedom as a cloak for malice, an excuse to do evil, or at least an excuse to not do what we know we must?

“We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion.”  John Adams

"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."  John Adams

That is not to say that government should be run by churches, because the same maxim about absolute power applies. What it does say, however, is that our form of government absolutely depends on morals and ethics. Perhaps that is where America is lacking? Is there any doubt?
Look at the television and movies now. What do you see? You know the truth.

IDEAS.  But what about when working with ideas is squashed by the courts, the rulers, and police?

How can we make ourselves worthy of a miraculous restoration of liberty? Perhaps by making ourselves worthy of forgiveness by God?  Perhaps all of us need to do some examination of conscience. Perhaps we need to ask Him for the right things.

Is America really worthy of Freedom?  Only We the People can answer that question!

Ecclesiasticus 51, 13-17
O Lord, my God, Thou hast exalted my dwelling-place upon the earth, and I have prayed for death to pass away. I called upon the Lord, the Father of my Lord, that He would not leave me in  the day of my trouble, and in the time of the proud, without help. I will praise Thy name continually, and will praise it with thanksgiving, and my prayer was heard, and Thou hast saved me from destruction, and hast delivered me from the evil time. Therefore I will give thanks, and praise Thee, O Lord our God.

Obama's branding is now backfiring. LOL?

I really don't think it's very funny, but you might.
